The coldest temperature ever recorded away from Antarctica was -90F at Ojmjakon, Russia in 1933. Temperatures are forecast to get close to that again tonight.

In 1933, the cold was due to a lack of CO2 – but the current cold is due to trapped heat from massive amounts of anthropogenic CO2.

At least 97% of vegetarians prefer not to eat meat.

Revkin laments that “only 6% of American scientists are Republican.” What he doesn’t understand is that Republican scientists and engineers generally work in private industry, where they make twice as much money and can work in a productive/respectful environment.

There seems to be no limit to the willingness of these people to soil themselves, in pursuit of keeping the story alive.

Thousands have turned up to ski in Scotland over recent weekends. However, some have been met with snaking queues and traffic jams, so is it worth the trip?
Angie Brown is a correspondent for BBC Scotland and has been skiing in Scotland since her childhood. “The snow last weekend in Glenshee was the best I’ve ever seen. It was comparable with resorts in France and Austria where I’ve been” she told us. “The problem was that they couldn’t cope with the numbers of people that turned up. There were only 2 men at the equipment hire counter, and not enough sets of equipment so I ended up skiing with no poles.”

That is almost 10X faster than what altimetry numbers show.

Earth to looney left. A record cold winter is the wrong time to be picking a global warming fight.

Hansen claims that The Arctic has warmed 4-8C over the past 100 years. If that were true, it would be impossible to generate the record cold being experienced in much of the Northern Hemisphere.
