The week before the election we suddenly start hearing from the press and White House all kinds of awful stories about Iraq, and now terrorist attacks which Obama personally thwarted.
Those tricks worked in 2006 and 2008, why won’t they work now?

And they are anxiously awaiting the results of Prop 23.
If you don’t vote the right way, they are going to get angry. You won’t like them when they are angry. {you might not like the next part}
In a bid to put as many people out of work as possible, California plans to require oil refiners to “start buying carbon dioxide permits for pollution from cars and trucks,”

This is how the AGW narrative goes. From 1880-1945, the Sun was warming the planet like crazy. Then in 1945, humans suddenly started dumping lots of junk into the atmosphere, causing rapid global cooling. In the 1970s, Congress passed the Clean Air Act and CO2 simultaneously kicked in with a vengeance, causing warming as great as the earlier period. Then around the turn of the millennium, natural variability kicked in and the planet stopped warming. All hell will break lose in a few years and the polar ice caps will melt down and flood the planet.

I really don’t know how these people can look at themselves in the mirror in the morning.
Romm and friends are constantly whining about an imagined increase in extreme weather, but as usual, they have no clue what they are talking about.
In the US, the 1930s had nearly as much extreme weather as all other decades combined. In fact, the past decade (2000-2009) may have had the least extreme weather.
Twenty three states set their record high temperature in the 1930s, compared with one during the past decade.
US navy completes successful test on boat powered by algae
The experimental boat, intended for use in rivers and marshes and eventually destined for oil installations in the Middle East, operated on a 50/50 mix of algae-based fuel and diesel.
The navy plans to roll out its first green strike force, a group of about 10 ships, submarines and planes running on a mix of biofuels and nuclear power, in 2012, with deployment in the field scheduled for 2016.
The current cost of a gallon of algae-diesel mix is $424 a gallon.
The early versions of algae-based fuels had a short shelf life, with the fuel separating in the tank, sprouting, or even corroding engines. “They had some not very good characteristics at the end of the day,” he admitted.
But the navy appears committed. Last month it placed an order for 150,000 gallons of algae-based fuel from a San Francisco firm.
OK. So they purchased $64 million dollars worth of corrosive green algae which sprouts in the engine and needs to be supplemented with diesel and nuclear.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armistice_Day_Blizzard
The Armistice Day Blizzard (or the Armistice Day Storm) took place in the Midwest region of the United States on 11 November (Armistice Day) and 12 November 1940. The intense early-season “Panhandle hook” winter storm cut a 1,000-mile-wide (1600 km) path through the middle of the country from Kansas to Michigan.
Snowfalls of up to 27 inches (69 cm), winds of 50 to 80 mph (80–130 km/h), 20-foot (6.1 m) snow drifts, and 50-degree Fahrenheit (30 °C) temperature drops were common over parts of the states of Nebraska, South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. In Minnesota, 27 inches (69 cm) of snow fell at Collegeville, and the Twin Cities recorded 16 inches (41 cm). Record low pressures were recorded in La Crosse, Wisconsin and Duluth, Minnesota.[3] Transportation and communications were crippled, which exacerbated finding the dead and injured. The Armistice Day Blizzard ranks #2 in Minnesota’s list of top-5 weather events of the 20th century.[4]
* No one got hysterical and tried to blame it on global warming.
Everyone understands this.
El Niño Means Warming – La Niña Means Cooling

El Niño Means Warming – La Niña Means Cooling
It is beyond my comprehension why anyone would seek to force fit an alternative explanation based on CO2 since 1975/particulates from 1940-1970/solar forcing before 1940 etc. – when the ENSO explanation explains the temperature trend extremely well and much more elegantly.
