The BBC writes some pretty awful stories about climate, but it is difficult to believe their recent one about cyclones could be anything but parody.

“At present, these cyclones – or hurricanes as they are also known – are mainly confined to the tropical regions north and south of the equator.”

This all known tropical storm tracks since 1850. Almost none of them occur in the tropics.

The most powerful hurricane to hit the Northeastern US occurred during September, 1821.
