Cold up north, cold throughout western Europe and of course the UK, record cold in Germany and Moscow, freezing and record spring snow storms in the the midwest and New England. But students can escape down south for spring break, in Florida. Oops maybe not, for FL we have another series of freeze warnings, including going down to 29°f in Tallahassee tonight, yes that’s 29° two weeks into spring in central FL: http://activerain.com/blogsview/3674214/will-it-freeze-tonight-in-tallahassee-florida-
Gatorsop’s Fables…
“Driven by funding, a climate expert wished to reach an ice free Arctic but was unable to, although he wished with all his strength. As he went away, the climate expert remarked, ‘Oh, you aren’t real ice yet! I don’t need any rotten ice.’ People who speak disparagingly of things that they cannot attain would do well to apply this story to themselves.”
The historic loss of arctic ice allows for the earliest start to the gold dredging season in recorded history in Nome, AK.

ROFLMAO – Bering Sea ice is near historic high levels. Where do you come up with this crap?
I guess I haven’t replied often enough for you to know when I am being sarcastic, although it does seem that if anyone would know sarcasm when they saw it, it would be you.
OK, I’ll remember that.
It is currently afternoon in Nome and the temperature is sitting at at balmy -1F. They have averaged close to 20 degrees below normal for the past week, with temps never climbing about +5 degrees. So it isn’t exactly cherry blossom time there.
“above +5 degrees.”
