The numbers are in: 2012, the year of a surreal March heat wave, a severe drought in the Corn Belt and a huge storm that caused broad devastation in the Middle Atlantic States, turns out to have been the hottest year ever recorded in the contiguous United States.
NYT might as well be another propaganda arm of the White House.
March 2012 was mild, not hot – and was cooler than 1910. NOAA massively tampered with the March data. The graph below shows the untampered data.
The CRUTEM plot below flashes between March 1910 and March 2012. In March 1910, the whole country was above normal.

I can’t believe the New York Times editors are still pushing the global warming mantra. Don’t they realize how ridiculous it makes their paper look? Some good old-fashioned investigate reporting would undoubtedly unearth massive evidence of scientific malfeasance and, perhaps, fraud, by more than a few leading scientists.
The planet stopped warming 17 years ago (see HadCRUT3, RSS, and UAH) and has shown a slight cooling trend since 2002. The observational data runs completely counter to the model projections of the IPCC, which has publicly acknowledged the absence of warming. This information is available to any cub reporter who wants to do a little digging. But, of course, reporting such facts would run counter to the global warming agenda pushed by the paper that “prints all the news that’s fit to print” (or, more accurately, “prints all the news that fits”).
Right now, Reagan National Airport is 49, but Dulles is 46, Andrews is 46 and BWI is 42. They are now regularly 3-5 degrees warmer than what my car thermometer shows. My car is 7 years old, it was never that way when my car was relatively new. It is obvious that the alarmists are altering the temperature so that DC can be a poster child for global warming.
