Obama and the Congressional left reject the idea of putting security guards in schools, even though their own children are protected by security guards in their schools.
Rather than placing someone with a gun in the schools to protect the children, they say that children should call someone else with a gun (police) who take 20 minutes to arrive. In the meantime six year olds are told to defend themselves with ball point pens.
Politicians should have to follow the same rules they make for everyone else. Since most people don’t have the option of sending their kids to private schools, politicians’ kids should be required to attend public school… in DC! They should pay into social security and participate in Obamacare like everyone else.
If they didn’t exempt themselves from so many of the rules they create for the rest of us, they wouldn’t be willingly screwing stuff up as much.
I’m beginning to think we should reinstate the draft, making the people have skin in the game for our pols’ adventurism and, you guessed it, their children should be frontline troops in Afghanistan. Hey, we can dream.
Why do we not have an issue with “representation without taxation”? Freeloaders should not have the ability to vote themselves more benefits, or direct the money of those who actually contribute.

You guys have been watching too many A-Team reruns. If I’m a shooter, the first person I take out is the armed guard, then it’s party time. Secondly, out of say fifty thousand armed guards in schools around America, what are the odds that every year at least one has a brain fart and shoots someone either deliberately or accidentally.
Hmmm, let me see. My locality has had armed officers in every secondary school for the past 15 years (there are about 30 of them). 15 years, 30 schools, = 0 accidental firings.
Let’s extend that. There are about 15,000,000 policemen in the US. In the last 10 years, there have been a grand total of 5 accidental shootings (source: fbi.gov). You do the math.
As far as the first person taken out, where would you strike first? One where someone is firing back at you (even if only a shot or 2) or one where no one can fire back at you? Crazy people are crazy, not stupid.

The knowledge that there was an armed person in he school would have probably prevented the attack from being planned.
If Lanza did proceed with the attack, he shot his way through the front door. That would have made it trivial to pick off an attacker coming through the door into a blind space.

The first half of the prophet’s life was spent in peace, love and understanding to make converts, the world over.

Guns do not bother me. No matter how well armed or equipped a place is…crazy people will always get in. It happens here, it happens in Russia, it happens in Israel…everywhere. What is more difficult is having a police state, that cannot be easily removed. Armed guards in schools would create a new TSA which is a nightmare that should be eliminated.
Appell came here once and asserted boldly that guns had no deterrent effect. I asked him why security guards, the army, and the police, carried weapons. Immediately he struggled to reply and ended up ignoring these basic questions and repeating his assertion.
The debate is not over whether Steve’s idea will work. The real issue is cost/benefit.
