Air pollution reduced hurricane frequency and severity in 20th Century — until the Clean Air Act reversed trend http://iphone.france24.com/en/20130623-man-made-particles-lowered-hurricane-frequency-study

Too bad we don’t have as detailed (i.e., satellite) a record of hurricanes dating back to the beginning of the LIA. Now, that would be interesting!

  3. ACR says:

The NHC declared that two tropical storms made landfall in June 2013 — one in Florida (Andrea) and one in Mexico (Barry). No land-based weather stations I’m aware of recorded tropical storm strength winds for either storm. Recall that no land-based station recorded hurricane force winds for last year’s Hurricane Sandy. So even if the NHC declares a hurricane hit the U.S., people who employ the skepticism of classical science should confirm the reports.
