Are you sure you’re reading the scale correctly, maybe confusing centigrade with Fahrenheit?
All that green is above 0 centigrade, which is the freezing point. I checked the Environment Canada web site for both Pond Inlet and Inuvik and both places are expecting fairly mild weather for the next two weeks.

It is, it is! But if you’ll only open your eyes and look, the hottest colors on the map are almost exclusively over land or else off shore from points South, like British Columbia, Washington State, or the mouth of the Saint Lawrence River, not in the high Arctic.
Do my eyes deceive me, or is there sea ice indicated in the Baltic Sea basin off the coast of Latvia? Is that an artifact?

The following month will be critical for the Arctic ice this year.
So far it is doing so well, even a little above my expectation.
