Fear of government went down under Bush (as did unemployment) and shot up under the little dictator.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Looks like We aren’t as stupid as we’re made out to be….
Big government and Big business are one and the same.
It does not matter what label you put on a totalitarian system…it is Totalitarian.
I worked in big business for many years. You are stupid wrong.
Yes, just ask the banks how much they have enjoyed the Dodd-Frank Act.
I had to deal with Osha, EPA, EEOC, NLRB . . . .
Every business has to deal with Osha, EPA, EEOC and NLRB. Hell, the EPA makes me declare how many outdoor spigots I have at MY HOUSE, EVERY YEAR!
I watched as departments were emptied, sometimes entire departments in a day, while new regulatory compliance departments were created to deal with the NONSTOP DAILY regulations were handed down. New departments full of minimum wage or part timers. Employees who had spent their entire careers as superstars, were escorted out of the building by security because of Dodd-Frank. Then came my turn.
I was having a conversation with a friend of mine who owns a construction company, and he mentioned that he could no longer get loans for his marginal customers. He had always had a go-to bank that could accommodate those with credit issues and that both bank and lender had always been happy with the product, but now there is no bank that will loan to these folks. He also mentioned that he himself was getting hit with more fees and restrictions at his bank. I explained this was all due to Dodd-Frank.
If you can’t see that our government is bought and paid for, then it is not me that is stupid. If you are bothered by the government, your business is just not big enough.
Do you have millions in lobbyists on Capitol Hill, who write the bills for congress? Do you give millions to campaigns? Billions to PACs? Do your ex-VP’s run the regulatory agencies that regulate your business? Do you fund entire thinktanks and NGO’s who write policy for government?
Tell me again I am stupid, or did the government not give the banks trillions of dollars between the Bush and Obama bailouts?
Dodd-Frank was written by the banks. It opened a permanent bailout window….for the right people.
Just like Obummer care was written by the health care industry…are rates going up? Are you required to buy their product??
I mean come on. Wake the fuck up.
Yes, and EPA regulations are written by the fossil fuel industry. 😆
Obviously you do not work for a bank.

For the record, in 1994, as Congress was attempting to dictate hardware backdoors in all personal computers via the Clipper Chip, I announced the Macintosh Cryptography Interface Project under the nickname -=Xenon=- while I was a graduate student in chemistry at Columbia:

It became an AppleScript GUI that placed PGP into the operating system itself (via the menu bar) where it rightly belonged back when PGP was still an obscure command line affair debated by libertarians and their detractors on Usenet. A steganographic stealth mode was also added with help from a C programmer that stripped the PGP headers and footers and could also restore them so you were able to send a message with just random looking digits. I created a widely distributed FAQ called “Here’s How To MacPGP!” and ran an anonymous remailer at [email protected]. I never did master programming in C the language, in favor of programing in C the element instead.

For the record, I was working with Gore and the NSA on their next project after Clipper.

I thought it was interesting that even 56% of Democrats said Big Government is the greatest threat.
Forgot Big Climate.
And yet America shunned a businessman in favor of a Marxist.
“As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began.
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool’s bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire”
– Rudyard Kipling, ‘The Gods of the Copybook Headings’
Take a look at the data concerning the drop in the consensus of threat and big government around the end of 2001. That created a nice ten-year window for a lot of garbage to happen, did it not?
