Seventy-two killed resisting gun confiscation in Boston!
Boston – National Guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed by elements of a Para-military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw.
Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement.
Gage blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices. The governor, who described the group’s organizers as “criminals,” issued an executive order authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered with the government’s efforts to secure law and order.
…
Governor Gage has called upon citizens to support the state/national joint task force in its effort to restore law and order. The governor also demanded the surrender of those responsible for planning and leading the attack against the government troops.
Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and John Hancock, who have been identified as “ringleaders” of the extremist faction, remain at large.
And this fellow Americans, is how the American Revolution began, April 20, 1775.

The government never changes.
A tradition of over 200 years.
Revere ?!?! Minor player. We know him because Dawes doesn’t rhyme with much.
Revere had a better PR man.
Longfellow.
Tallbloke? 😉
Henry Wadsworth.
What we know of Paul Revere’s Ride comes from Longfellow’s poem. It is poetry, not history.
I know. I thought the winky would give away the joke.
Sorry. I don’t get it. Only Tallbloke I know is a Brit blogger, Roger something.
Right. I was being sarcastic, as in asking naively, Tallbloke? Guess I was just too obtuse.
What do you call a “longfellow”? A “tall bloke”.
Thanks gofer. I was just not seeing what Gamecock was missing I guess.
ARGH!!!
I’ll do better next time.
Even I got that one
Long history of troublemaking, eh?

Soon to be forbidden to play in front of children by the US government.
Sad really. Even the cats know not to go bounding around in the hot sun. But the government apparently wants to hide that from people because Mexico just happens to be warmer than the US.
This is total bunkum. The right-wing was all about supporting the English domination and their capitalistic endeavors. The protectors of human rights were the left wing rebels who wanted freedom. To claim that Adams and Hancock were right-wing ‘terrorists’, is to portray them as opposite to what they really were about. The left wanted freedom and independence, the right wanted protection and stability. The ‘aristocracy’ were capitalists who didn’t want their privileged status upset. The dreamers were Washington, Adams, and Hancock, who gave up their financial security for the dream of independence. .
If Washington, Adams, and Hancock were left wingers then so am I. You are really being silly. The definition of a true constitutional conservative is that government is a “necessary evil”, not the solution to all the inequities of life. All power centralized is dangerous and capable of great evil, and according to the inherent nature of humans, certain to go in that direction. Since strong statist central government was the rule, the founding fathers were indeed right wing rebels, with a good cause.
@mogur2013: “The left wanted freedom …”
“Freedom” and “the left” are inherently incompatible.
Have you guys no shame? You pretend that there was an article one day after the battle of Concord and Lexington, where armed militia fired ‘the shot heard ’round the world’ against British regulars, and that the ‘governor’ was trying to disarm innocents of their ‘assault’ weapons? If you actually read our history, that was when the British commander in chief (also known as your ‘governor’ Gage) was trying to impound rebel arms.
Yes, we are the first and foremost democracy because we disavowed largesse and slovenliness. Why are you guys now trying to make that a shame? Resisting the powers that be is an American ideal. The Boston Tea Party is the opposite of the current tea party. It is not about tax, actually the tea was cheaper than ever because the British eliminated the export tax. The tea was cheaper than ever. But the fact that the tea was cheaper didn’t allow us to ignore the fact that we need to be free, even crazy people, and Governor Reagan decided that we should let ‘ALL’ misanthropes onto the street. We have been suffering ever since.
Well after the Boston bombing this year , we can be very sure that this will never happen again I mean imagine the Boston softies standing up against the Government , it happened 200 years ago and it will never happen again. That was a day of shame for America , shelter in place while we search your houses while we hold you at gun point , and no-one stood up to them .
