Eighty three years ago today, Mawson was sailing along the Antarctic coast. In 2013, global warming nutcases trying to retrace Mawson’s route are hoping an icebreaker comes and saves them.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

It appears 1 of 3 rescue ice breakers is also stuck in this rotten ice:

WHERE’s Reggie with his blow torch to SAVE THE DAY…
I am trying not to think this way, but a part of me would find it hilarious if all four ocean craft became stuck, (with hopefully no health problems). Of course the Southern hemisphere summer is coming, but ice drift could cause some unexpected happenings. Then as cooler weather approached the saga would be on a worldwide, and embarrassing stage.
They could add up the cost, list the uh –scientific conclusions.
Well,- just daydreaming.
This is no embarrassing stage except for realists. There is no mention in the media of record antarctic ice nor anything that might sway any true believer that the trapping is more than just a happenstance in the global war on climate change. I am sure to some this is evidence of the self-sacrifice that scientists have to go threw while proving that our world is in peril of melting.
I’m with you Darryl. It’s not nice to fool Mother nature….They’ve been spreading lies, and now they are enjoying the fruits of their labour! LOL! Let global warming take care of them.
Actually, the southern hemisphere summer is not coming because it’s actually already arrived. All this is happening during this Antarctic summer. And this is precisely why scientists must wake up and appreciate what is happening not just in Antarctica but also in North America. And what is actually happening is inconsistent with global warming, leave aside catastrophic man-made global warming.
The weather outside is frightful! Sorry I couldn’t help it. It’s my Candadian sense of humour.

We have a new Team Twisted, better than the Lastfirst rowers could ever be 😉
I understand this trip is largely a BBC – UK Guardian junket, so they’ll have plenty of reporting
power on hand to tell the world how much better the Cooler World is!!
When they get down to burning their lifevests for warmth, they’ll know the true meaning of
“sustainable living”.
Or not. Film at eleven
I recall the incident in the Sea of Okhotsk a year or two ago, with the icebreakers going to rescue a cargo ship getting stuck themselves.
They should have brought some CO2 with them for this contingency.
I agree. They only need 400ppm to melt all the ice, so they say. Sprinkle a few kilos out on the ice and they’ll be free! Maybe we should organise a CO2 airdrop.
Well, the An-225 can carry over 500,000lb. So, if we load her up with dry-ice & drop it on ’em we can probably solve the whole mess with one try.
That would definitely punch a hole in their dogma, I mean ice prison.
😀
James Ross took two wooden sailing ships through this exact area in 1841 (roughly same time of year) and sailed right up to what is now called the “Ross Ice Shelf” in the “Ross Sea”.
If they read this blog something to cheer them up.

This goes to show the well documented extremely great danger.
