Cold Alaska temperatures will rapidly freeze the Bering Strait this week.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Ya but Polie will be in danger with that tiny ice missing in Hudson Bay! Send big Al up there!
But I have been assured by lots of very famous and well connected people that all the ice is melting away. How can this be?
Have famous and well connected people lied? Have they said such things just for the fame, money, and exposure that it offered them?
I’m flabbergasted!
🙂
It’s new ice, which really doesn’t count as real ice. So, the Arctic must be ice free. 🙂
When I moved to Michigan I was told that that 12″ hiding my car in the parking lot wasn’t real snow, it was just lake effect. The ice thing must be like that.
🙂
(Images from the future: Centuries-old kayaks, jutting out of the ice where they were lost in the last great age of “discovery”.)
Mark Serreze said in 2010 the Bering Sea is “where all the action is” and it freezing up was just a fluke.

As Bugs Bunny would say

Nothing ever happens in their world that is positive. No matter what, it’s going to be bad:
“This is simply natural variability,” said National Snow and Ice Data Center director Mark Serreze, who wasn’t part of the NOAA report but praised it. “There is nothing about the year 2013 that provides any evidence that the Arctic is starting a path toward recovery.”
Bitter cold, higher heating bills and food cost, failed crops…..apparently one could say is good news to them.
Yes, data is not evidence unless it has been properly “adjusted.”
I was wondering why the Bering Strait was slow to freeze this year. I think it froze early last year if my non scientist memory is correct. Anyhow, when I was checking this out after this post I saw Captain Grey Goose had an interesting article on the warm temps. Accuweather shows a week from today it getting cold. In addition to this link I saw the good captain had one on the US Navy predicting an ice free arctic in 2016. Just in case someone is tracking these failed predictions for posterity. Anyhow, interesting article on the warm temps in Alaska: http://northwestpassage2013.blogspot.com/2013/12/while-most-of-us-froze-parts-of-alaska.html
Except that on average Alaska has been rapidly cooling for the past 7+ years.
