I believe he is referring to seeing an early blurb about a plane hitting the towers. The same thing happened to me that day, first came a report that only said a plane had hit, and the newscaster did not seem alarmed. They did not have footage and did not say what kind of plane. I assumed it was a single engined plane like a Piper or Cessna. It was not until they ran footage that people understood the gravity.
“I saw an airplane hit the tower”
He’s from Texas! He also says ‘nucular’! 😆
What meant to say was that he saw ‘that’ an airplane had hit the tower.
I think there is an unspoken word involved. “… and I saw an airplane (had) hit the tower … the TV was obviously on.” Reasonable enough. The TV was on because the plane had hit the tower, and at that moment it was nearly the universal opinion that this was an accident. As the president put it, “one terrible pilot.” (That would shortly prove to be true, but with a very different meaning.)
What do you make of this, other than slightly sloppy speech?

Zactly.
I caught reports of the first strike, and thought it was almost certainly NOT an accident–a direct, extremely high energy hit (thus a large plane at high speed), in beautiful clear weather and thoroughly monitored airspace. I wondered why the reporters weren’t saying what was, to me, obvious. But judging probabilities is one of my specialties (and the primary weakness of most scientists–that’s why they fall for incompetent models so often now: They have no sense of a true perspective, a view free of unreal, and demonstrably improbable, exaggerations–they tend to elevate correlation into causation falsely).
The crew that actually filmed the first strike were sure it was no accident.
It may be true, but is not evidence one way or the other. They could not know. And later, in the telling of the story, their suspicions may have evolved to certainties. Such things happen to memory when flavored by later events.
A bit of this happened with the August 6, 2001 Presidential Daily Briefing played in the media as “Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in the US”: After the fact, this was portrayed as foretelling the attack. The rest of text, never mentioned in the Wikipedia and other biased versions, actually downplays the idea of an aircraft “hijacking ” noting that they “have not been able to corroborate some of the more sensational threat reporting, such as that from a [British intelligence] service in 1998 saying that Bin Ladin wanted to hijack a US aircraft to gain the release of “Blind Shaykh” ‘Umar ‘Abd al-Rahman and other US-held extremists.”
The earlier threatened “hijacking” is not the same, of course, as using aircraft as weapons. That was new, and never suggested by the PDBs. But the media insisted that Bush should have known — just as they now insist that the constant warnings about Benghazi’s attacks didn’t give Obama enough notice.

And out of nowhere came The Patriot Act

Exactly.
I don’t understand why this would be an issue given people’s well known erroneous memories of the sequence of events for historical events. He clearly didn’t see it live unless it was projected on the back of that classroom. So he is conflating the sequence of video afterwards.
There was plenty of video out of New York on the aftermath of the first plane before the second hit. The first plane’s impact video came out later. If you had asked me if there had been video of the first strike available prior to the second hitting, i’d have had to have thought hard on the sequence. I was actually thinking it was an accident until the second hit and made things clear, which is the only way I know it came out later. I can not tell you right now if the first plane video came out later that day or the following days. So many variations on the second plane hitting were looped on the video that I can not recall if there is more than one video of the first plane.
Bush was a puppet. Cheney and others were running the show. But Bush was under enormous pressure not to let the cat out of the bag, and sometimes it showed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCvqXXnxLZw
I have not followed 9/11 stuff for a few years now, I find it very depressing that they got away with it, despite being caught blowing up Building 7. The sad conclusion I came to is that the world is not as it seems and our mainstream media, both in the US and UK, is very carefully influenced and in some cases controlled. I recommend one of the early 9/11 documentary films, made/funded by the Jersey Widows – http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/911-press-for-truth/ – but if you only have 5 minutes, James Corbett has done a good summary of the official story: http://www.corbettreport.com/911-a-conspiracy-theory/
(likewise JFK and Climategate)
So was Muhammad a Republican plant? (Maybe you should talk to Charles Martel.)
Seriously, check out the movie Obsession. And note what Noni Darwish has to say about watching 9/11 unfold. (Basically, she says that when she saw the second plane hit she knew that jihad had come to America.)
(Among other things, you can plan on having to cook up a lot more conspiracy stories before this is over.)
My brother was working at the Pentagon when the attacks occurred, and lost friends there. It disgusts me to hear truthers discuss this attack as an ‘inside job’. Our government is not competent enough, or evil enough, to have committed such an attack successfully.
The truthers have been exposed as frauds time and again.
Crawl back under your rock.
lapogus,
On of the innumerable myths of 911 is that Building 7 had little damage. You might find the Building 7 section of this site interesting. Do read the rest if you have time though:

Corbett’s work survives no one with background or knowledge. Even following his own links shows his assertions to be unsupported. This is an old drill for me, and a sad one — as many taken in by this ruse might otherwise be allies.

I missed the first plane by 10 or 20 minutes. My roommate was watching TV & called me in. We did, in fact, see the second plane hit, live. Quite a day.
So what on this video happens is all staged: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rg5NvKpJfKE
Bush has great respect for the American people. As a young man, Bush spent summers worked in poor black neighborhoods physically helping them build homes and build lives. Obama’s only contributions here were to “agitate” blacks who he described in his books as “not angry enough.”
When told whatever he was told on a second plane impact, he remained calm. Perhaps he should have rushed from the room, rather than waiting five minutes — though it would have resulting in him sitting in a car while the cavalcade got organized.
In five minutes, things were organized and definitive actions were evident. They apparently began immediately after the second strike (making it obvious that the first was not an accident). Compare this to responses to emergencies by the current administration — such as Benghazi. I think that Bush looks pretty good here.
Certainly Bush’s IQ is higher than Obama’s, his literary reading far more extensive (typically a book a week), and very likely his college grades superior (we won’t know for a while; it took a long time for Kerry to reveal his poor grades). But Obama can “read prettier” from a script, so most Americans are so foolish as to use this (and constant media “Bush is dumb!” indoctrination) as their only measures of intelligence.
Bush tried to do the best for the US country. Obama is trying to do the worst to the US. Neither man was perfectly competent, but Obama’s incompetence is perhaps the best thing about him.

Guys like Bush really must think Americans are stupid as hell.
When did he say he watched the FIRST plane impact?? He says A plane. Someone have his intenerary to check what time he was sitting outside the class before going in??
It’s been a long time since I read this, but Jim Hofman pointed out that there is more than one skeptical hypothesis about 911.
1. The Bush admin intelligence-gathering yielded detailed advance notice of the attack, and the Bushies chose to do nothing. (The putative ’20th hijacker’ was a goobermint informant.)
2. The Bush admin intelligence gathering yielded detailed advance notice of the attack, and the Bushies actively facilitated the attack.
3. 911 was a 100% ‘inside job’ from start to finish, and there were no hijackers (the least likely alternative scenario).
At least one conservative blogger has also pointed out that part of the fault lies with Bill “Guns Are Evil” Clinton. His fateful Executive Order prevented the pilots from packing heat while flying. And Dubya chose not to to rescind that EO. But for Clinton’s stupid EO, the outcome of 911 would have been less bloody.
Moreover the Israelis, who at the time, had more experience in counter-terrorism, had hardened cockpits in their commercial airliners. That’s another ‘but-for’. American industry and goobermint have a difficult time learning from our their own experiences — let alone the experiences of other countries.
The commission that disarmed the pilots was chaired by Gore. The pilots sued the commission over this and many other aspects:

Thank you and Gator for your comments. We have plenty of real problems not to chase conspiracy theories that have been successfully debunked. I disagreed with a number of Bush objectives, but I always sensed a respectful caring person with great deal of compassion. Unlike Obama, there are many many historical reports regarding Bush that reflect this.
The first crash was filmed; a crew making a documentary on, I think, the New York Fire Department happened to be in place. However that film didn’t reach the news media until later; I don’t know how much later. Of course, the second crash was seen live on TV news; at that point, any lingering doubt that this was terrorism was dispelled. I did see ABC News after the first crash: although the newscaster said that it was reported (or something like that) that a plane had hit the building, he apparently doubted that that was true.
Probably Mr. Bush either misremembered or misspoke. I can see no sinister meaning in either.
There’s too much distraction going on when it comes to investigating 9/11. Find out who helped train and finance the hijackers, OK? Philip Marshall is the guy whose books you all should be reading. He was once involved in black ops himself as a pilot and clearly understands the mechanics of the attacks from an aviation perspective. Oh, and also because he out of the blue shot his dog, his two teenage children and himself last year. I guess that’s just normal behavior for a conspiracy nut…
‘Nuts’ do not behave ‘normally’.
