SOME POLAR ICE MELTING LINKED TO GLOBAL HEATING By WALTER SULLIVAN
January 8, 1982
The Federal agency’s scientists cited an estimate by Dr. K.O. Emery of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution that over 40 years the seas had risen more than an inch a decade. In that period, the global warming of the previous century reversed itself, at least in northern latitudes; hence the sea-level rise is attributed to ice melting, rather than ocean expansion due to warming.
One effect of such extensive melting, the article in Science says, would be halving of the rate at which the oceans become heated. Melting ice absorbs an immense amount of heat. The scientists suggest that while a pronounced global warming may be under way, much of its effects have been hidden by the heat absorption of melting ice.

So they’ve been absolutely certain that they have the net energy balance nailed down and have been looking for minor parts for decades? Wasn’t there an account a while back that the missing heat was nailed down to 0.6+/- 17 watts/m^2? With that level of uncertainty, it would seem that the missing heat might be found closer to their assumptions and hiding in the oceans, arctic or melting ice.
When the ice melts, the heat sneaks away to deep in the ocean, while no-one is looking.
I know where the missing heat is. It’s on the other side of the (flat) earth.
Melting over the years must have absorbed all the extra heat… With that extra heat mopped up we now have record Ice growing at both Poles…
