   I believe Bastardi thinks that frigid pocket will move a little east and situate directly over the great lakes. It would be nice because his model spares the NW the worst of it.

   and found a 7.5 day forecast, which shows a different above freezing forecast for my Pacific Northwest. Another:

   On the other hand we saw +49C on the front verandah here in western Queensland yesterday. A met set thermometer, not in a screen, not in direct sun either. An Oregon Sci electric was around the same. Anyway bloody hot.

   It seems like every time I see these forecasts, Michigan is spared by being surrounded by the Great Lakes. What is the reason for that?

   I hope it doesn’t mean this summer will also be like 1936. If so, there would be an unprecedented feeding frenzy for alarmists.
