That above freezing snow is something to behold. We get to play in the snow and don’t even need protection from the elements its so warm.

    Thanks Dr. Hansen!

  2. Lance says:

dang…I could use some of that 20 degrees, get our temps back to 0C….

“We’ve got to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing.” -leftist Senator Tim Wirth, 1993
“We have to undertake an aggressive program to go after those who are among the deniers.” -Tim Wirth, 2011
“Chief executives of large fossil fuel companies [should] be put on trial for high crimes against humanity and nature.” -James Hansen, NASA

“It is clear that 1998 did not match the record warmth of 1934.” -James Hansen
“We agree with Mr Rose that there has been only a very small amount of warming in the 21st Century. As stated in our response, this is 0.05 degrees Celsius since 1997 equivalent to 0.03 degrees Celsius per decade.” -James Hansen, January 2013
“If Canada proceeds [with its tar sands oil development]… Sea levels would rise and destroy coastal cities. Global temperatures would become intolerable. Twenty to 50 percent of the planet’s species would be driven to extinction.” -James Hansen, 2012

Anyone who thinks the accuracy of most meteorological records is better than 0.5 of a degree has to be kidding surely.

Where do they get the nerve to quote figures to 1/100 th of a degree when the raw data is nowhere near that ?

I used to measure refrigerated food storages for compliance with food laws in the 1990s. The thermometer cost thousands and required regular testing for accuracy to be accepted in a court case. Its claimed accuracy was +- 0.1 C.

How many people really think the meteorological records used to calculate these averages are in any shape of form accurate enough to give any better than about +- 1 degree accuracy – let alone 1/100 ?

      Not me obviously !

      • Jason Calley says:

I wish the CAGW alarmists had 1/10th your sense. Yes, they talk about hundredths and even thousandths of a degree with no justification at all — it is bizarre! Their thermostat at home keeps their quarters to perhaps a couple of degrees variation from room to room, but they tell us that a couple of degrees is enough to spark mass extinctions. They claim that heat is hiding in the oceans, based on the premise that they can measure a global delta T per half century in the hundredths of a degree.

        Madness!

  5. crosspatch says:

It is obvious that Hansen’s projects were off. He forecast 20 degrees while NOAA clearly shows it has gone up by eleventy-three.

  6. Ben Vorlich says:

    Steve,
Have any of the record high temperatures of the 1980s talked about in this article had to be adjusted down yet?

  7. Rosco says:

I don’t understand how increasing CO2 will cause more heating of the atmosphere.

The IPCC claim 83 % of the Earth’s IR radiated to space comes from GHs. They also claim 99% of the atmosphere doesn’t radiate IR. They also claim direct surface radiation to space is unlikely to change much.

It seems problematic that increasing the concentration of the only “coolants” in the atmosphere – GHGs – causes warming BUT not a corresponding increase in the percentage of “cooling” attributed to these same GHGs ?

  8. Bob says:

    Hansen is full of crap.

  9. petra says:

This still doesn’t explain how what man does no planet Earth causes polar ice caps to shrink on planet Mars!
