And while he is occasionally given to rhetorically jumping the shark, his concerns are based on a lifetime of rigorous atmospheric research that has helped to define modern climatology.
In short, his views should be afforded, at the very least, a decent respect by critics and admirers alike.

The very first sentence of the Hansen letter sums it up:
“….James Hansen is the high priest of global warming…”
“Environmentalists have been at a loss to explain why the world has become increasingly apathetic toward their warnings about the dangers of increased levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, even as the science behind the warnings becomes more compelling.”
Obviously this clown spends most of his reading time in the entertainment or sports section.
When the sky doesn’t fall, people who run around screaming, “The sky is falling!,” get ignored.

What a strange phrase. The temperature isn’t going up, but the science is.
I wish I could get Hansen up here this morning and shovel my driveway. He could then experience first hand “global warming.”
It is now about -34C with a bit of a wind chill. This is close to -40 where the temps C and F are about the same number.
Exactly the same number.
I’d rather have CO2 in my atmosphere than UF6. Let’s stick to coal please.

Not far from here is a dairy farm where you can get better fertilizer than that for $10 per pickup load. Bring your own shovel.
Hansen has no more credibility than than the latest “end of the world” cultist.
Do we have to respect Jim Jones too? He had a lot of devoted followers.
Even Jim Jones never attempted to drag the whole world back to the stone age.
