SAN FRANCISCO — Antarctica’s crumbling Larsen B Ice Shelf is poised to finally finish its collapse, a researcher said Tuesday here at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union.
“It’s possible that if there’s a summer warm enough to clear out the sea ice, it will simply fall apart,” he said.
But Antarctica hasn’t had a very warm summer since 2006, so for now, the scientists wait and watch.
They could spend their time trying to sign up for Obamacare.
“When it breaks apart, we’re really going to learn a lot more about what happens during this process,” said Scambos, who will be visiting that area of Antarctica in January (summer in the Southern Hemisphere).

It is likely that January will have the highest global sea ice area on record. Bummer for Ted.

Yep, he is very concerned about that ice.
All these Hoaxer Climate stories reflect what might, could, or would happen… not what is happening this year. As Stephen pointed out, Polar Ice is at record levels, that’s the REAL story this year yet our Media doesn’t even know this fact or refuses to report it.
Thus we are left with stories which support the Global Warming ideology … like some huge ice shelf breaking free from Antarctica … which happens anyway when it gets too big to support itself, but these folks act like its from Global Warming.. forget that the Antarctic hasn’t been above 0 degrees for how many days now??
with the antarctic ice growing, is there warmer water from volcanic activity under the shelf softening the shelf?? why would it be melting if the Antarctic is recording -138 temps??
