Shock News : Glaciers Were Receding During Hansen’s Coldest Year Ever

The Braidwood Dispatch and Mining Journal  Wednesday 28 September 1910

Except over a small area, it is generally understood, the glaciers of the world are retreating to the mountains. The glacier on Mount Sermiento in South America, which descended to the sea when Darwin found it in 1836, is now separated from the shore by a vigorous growth of timber. The Jacobshaven glacier in Greenland has retreated four miles since 1850, and the East glacier in Spitzbergen is more than a mile away from its original terminal  moraine. In Scandinavia the snow- line is further up the mountains, and the glaciers have withdrawn 3,000ft. from the lowlands in a century. The Araphoe glacier in the Rocky Mountains, with characteristic American enterprise, has been melting at a rapid rate for several years.

This global retreat of glaciers was occurring during NASA’s coldest year on record. Anyone with an IQ over 30 should be able to figure out that we can’t stop glacial retreat, but sadly that doesn’t include the president or the IPCC.

Steven, another great find in the archives of reality!

The alarmists and their minions are very impressed with photo sequences showing glacier retreat from pre-1950 phototgraphs to recently. A famous collection from Alaska is by Bruce Molnia – as promoted by The Weather Channel (http://www.weather.com/news/science/environment/alaskas-glaciers-capturing-earth-changing-our-eyes-20131125).
What is the real explanation for this glacial retreat? Is it part of the general warming trend since the Maunder minimum? Or . . . ?

You’d think the psychotic lying bastards had never heard of the term “inter-glacial period”…

  3. Andy Oz says:

What were Hansen and NASA doing in 1910?? Obviously sitting on their hands, the dills. They had 74 years of data from when Darwin was surveying retreating glaciers and they did nothing. NOTHING! Unbelievable. They are a disgrace to the klimate kult.

A couple of years later and they were growing again:
    SWISS GLACIERS GROWING.
Owing to the cold Summers of 1912 and 1913 the Swiss glaciers, which for several years had been receding, have again begun to grow. Curiously enough, the mighty Rhone glacier is still dwindling.”

Sums it up, really. From a saner period in time:
    MOVEMENTS OF GLACIERS
Switzerland’s glaciers have their temperature taken and their stature measured every year by the careful Swiss geologists. The glaciers are not putting on weight.

Of the 92 glaciers examined 73 are shrinking. They have been doing so for the last six years. If they went on doing so Swiss winter sports would come to an end, and, far more serious, the Swiss mountain streams would cease to turn the turbines which keep Switzerland lighted and her trains running. Nevertheless, there is no reason for dismay—yet.

More than thirty years ago the alarm was raised about the shrinking Swiss glaciers, and it was shown that many of them had gone back a mile or more in the nineteenth century. But thirty years is as nothing in the life of a glacier. It goes back and comes as in a pendulum movement, the swing of which is not reckoned in years, but measured in centuries.”

glaciers could be retreating due to other factors I am sure like the air becoming dryer (colder the air the dryer it is cold air cannot hold moisture no moisture no snow) hence less warm air which holds mositure is reaching the peaks for some reason, global cooling?
