Climate experts tell us that the Arctic is melting, and all the ice is disappearing.
Apparently the same Arctic air gets much colder as it moves south.

Today
13Z CONUS avg temperature at 18.1°F — colder than at any point last winter (18.9°F — January 14, 2013 13Z) https://twitter.com/RyanMaue/status/408968247078162432/photo/1
Little better high res temp map of current temps.

It says mean but judging by our weather it should be high temp…it’s off by 20 degrees here
Here’s a current map of departures from normal across the US. Rather large negatives.

Hey,
if you look at something like the “stormsurf jetstream world”
you’ll see that YOU are the lucky beneficiary of nice Hawaii beach air…..
after “conditioning” in a dark place where the sun don’t shine!
Of course, all the great and wonderful GIGO models carefully cover this.
After all, CO2 helps…..
Errr, if you believe the model thing, I’ve got this bridge over the Columbia to sell’ya, cheap!
It’s just like leaving your freezer door open, the cold air escapes and your ice melts. Or something…
It was interesting though…while working in the high arctic years ago, we would be in cold air (minus 40) or colder… then the wind would blow all that cold down to lower Canada/USA and they would get what we had and we would warm up to minus 20 or so!!! (relative)
Arctic air gets much colder as it moves south.
Isn’t that the ?-Latitude Lapse Rate (?LLR)? Looks like about 2.8°C per degree in latitude. It’s part of the inhibition of GHG warming. If that cold air didn’t move down here we’d be a lot warmer.
