Famous last words…”aprés moi, le deluge” (I can’t help it; I remember).
Healthcare.gov is vaporware. Here’s the headline:
Obamacare Website: Potemkin Villages All the Way Down
December 2nd, 2013 – 4:19 pm
“Potemkin Village, anyone?”*, Mark Finkelstein quips at Newsbusters. “Joe Scarborough has offered a scathing simile for the new-’n-improved Obamacare website. On today’s Morning Joe, he likened the site to the set of a Hollywood Western — pushing back the facade reveals that there’s nothing behind it:”
Even former Obama spox Robert Gibbs — proudly sporting an Auburn jersey — acknowledged that big chunks of the system, including the payment mechanism for subsidies, haven’t even been built. So people can go to the site, receive the illusion that they have obtained coverage, only to find that there is no follow-through.
Consider what kind of nightmarish scenario we have entered, in which President Obama engineered the government takeover of 1/6th of the our economy, only to inflict a dysfunctional Fantasy Land.

There’s a chance that Obamacare might solve the problem of the US aging population leaving the workforce. Indeed, if Obamacare is sufficiently successful, it might ease the burden on Social Security as well.
I detect desparation in your comments. Despite you right wing reactionary friends voting 47 times to repeal the Affordable Care Act, they wiil have to stand by and see it implemented despite the attempts of Republican governors to sabotage it. Medcaid is being extended to the poor in states with Democratic governors; preexsting conditions can no longer be used to deny coverage; no caps on coverage for extended illnesses; children are now coivered by parent’s policy until theri mid twenties’ and more are getting coverage from the exchange as they eat their skittles.
No doubt the reference to “skittles” is a code word to appeal to racism For me, if I found a sabateur abord my ship of state, I wouldn’t look to compromise, I’d hang him from the yardarm.
I don’t think the Republicans have to do much to sabotage this. It’s creators built in the auto-self destruct. If they didn’t, then they are among the most inept people in history. At least that’s the way it seems. If the progressives were half as good at putting this system together has they are making up excuses and shifting blame, it would be off and running. Race baiting is, in my opinion, one of the last refuges of scoundrels.
The Affordable Care Act was sold on lies and fraud. It will not reduce medical costs nor will it increase availability of medical treatment. In fact it will do the opposite.
The absolute arrogance of the US Government believing it knows what insurance you must have and what medical treatments you must have is absolutely appalling. Bring on the lists of people who were denied insurance because of pre-existing conditions. I don’t know anyone who has been and I know people who have died (insured) of some pretty nasty stuff or survived pretty nasty stuff without losing their insurance.
Children who are covered by their parent’s policies until their mid-20’s. At 18 you can vote, enter into contracts, enlist in the military and do all sorts of things. That means you are an adult. Somewhere, well before you are 26, you should be doing adult things like supporting yourself, which includes buying your own insurance. My kids got 4 years of my support if they went to college, after that they were expected to support themselves. If your “kids” are children at 26, you have a real problem.
This is next shoe to drop, Surprise, you don’t have a policy and this happened after the website was supposedly fixed:
“Bob Shlora of Alpharetta, Ga., was supposed to be a belated Obamacare success story. After weeks of trying, the 61-year-old told ABC News he fully enrolled in a new health insurance plan through the federal marketplace over the weekend, and received a Humana policy ID number to prove it.
But two days later, his insurer has no record of the transaction, Shlora said, even though his account on the government website indicates that he has a plan.
“I feel like this: My application was taken … by a bureaucrat, it was put on a conveyor belt and it’s still going around, and it’s never going to leave the building,” he said. “I’ve lost hope. If it happens, great.”
Obama administration officials acknowledged today that some of the roughly 126,000 Americans who completed the torturous online enrollment process in October and November might not be officially signed up with their selected issuer, even if the website has told them they are.”

ObamaCare – Destroying your ability to choose.
There will really be hell to pay if in Jan, some people have significant health costs while believing they are insured and they find out they are not. The MSM could not ignore that. It could actually come to a situation where death could be involved, although I do not think the medical profession would let that happen.
I really do fault the MSM to some degree for not treating the current chief executive in the same manner as any other holder of the office would be treated. Pres. Obama became so spoiled and arrogant that I do believe he can’t grasp the fact that he is being challenged, even by the MSM (somewhat) his own party, and a larger % of the population.
He simply got a pass and people in time would forget about things such as Benghazi. Being a former military person, I will never forget— including Hillary’s ‘At this point what difference does it make?’
Then again my two insurers are the government (so thank you taxpayers) Medicare and Tricare.
