Arctic Ice Continues To Track 2006

2006 had the highest Arctic sea ice minimum extent of the past decade, and 2014 is tracking 2006 quite closely.

It sure looks like all that heat is still sinking to the bottoms of the oceans…

That eeeeviiiiill CO2 is trapping all the heat it can, yet it still sinks….

Tony I was on DMI earlier this morning and while there it struck me as odd that you use the old ice extent graph that they have been claiming they will stop producing someday.
Any reason in particular … I’m just curious?

    • It uses 30% concentration ice, which is a more realistic measure than 15% concentration. It also shows the past 10 years.

    • Alec, aka daffy duck says:

Following on, with the 15% or more standard even a modest wind can cause a massive increase or decrease ‘in ice’; likely why nsidc uses 5 day smoothed graph

    • Jason Calley says:

From the article, his wife, Renay speaking:
“Asked if Gursoy still intends to continue his journey, Renay said she hasn’t yet had that discussion with him. If she knows her husband, however, Renay said she has no doubt he will keep going. “He’s a born adventurer,” she said with a chuckle.”

If he continues, he is not an adventurer, he is an unthinking idiot. This year is not a year to make the NWP.
