The Met Office, using data generated by a £33 million supercomputer, claims Britain can stop worrying about a big freeze this year because we could be in for a milder winter than in past years.

Not to mention the countless met office’s forecasts of a ‘barbecue summer,’ that all evolved into a normal dull, damp and dreary English summer. (Though presently, we are baking in rare sunshine, yay.)
A few years ago, I remember seeing the head of the Met Office being interviewed about all these useless long range forecasts of theirs, that at one time, they seemed to churn out like loo paper. The interviewer became more incredulous as the met office buffoon continued to stonewall him about their useless forecasting record, blankly insisting, with a knowing smile of arrogance, that we should all sit back and wait, because the hot summers are on there way.
P.S. This was before their masterfully-illumining discovery, following last winter, when the polar vortex went bungee jumping down south for a few months, that global warming also causes cold conditions too. Oh my, who’d have ‘thunk it?’
(I know there should be an ‘i’ in the penultimate word of the last sentence, I left it out in honour of the Met Office, because they seem to have no eyes either)
You are doing some wonderful work exposing their creative climate accounting, revealing their data dodgems of bumping the past down whilst bumping the present up.

Have to wonder why the Met office keep doing long range weather forecasts, they tend to be wide of the mark. BBQ summers that are not, mild winters that are not.
Even their hurricane predictions are worse than the USA does by far.
They are ok for short term forecasts though in general.

Betts still thinks his super duper computer and model are state of the art. But then he would wouldn’t he. The new multi-million super duper duper one will be even more …………. useless and a waste of money.

After this debacle they said they had but instead started hiding them from public view.
Forecasts more than 24 hours out by the MO aren’t that great either, especially if there are no blocking highs or lows. When stuff is coming in the original ETA is usually well wide of the mark.

You guys really need to get with the times. The forecast was obviously correct. That snow and ice you see is just an artifact of an algorithm. It’s a processing error.
Fastest way to make money was to bet against the Met Office predictions. Sadly most bookies have cottoned on to the fact.
