Off topic: The Corruption of “Peer Review”

Who would thought that peer review was corrupt? Michael Mann, where are you?

      BOOKMARKED!

That becomes a crown jewel in my science fraud folder.

      You would probably like these:
US scientists significantly more likely to publish fake research, study finds

How Many Scientists Fabricate and Falsify Research? A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Survey Data

….1.97% (N = 7, 95%CI: 0.86–4.45) of scientists admitted to have fabricated, falsified or modified data or results at least once –a serious form of misconduct by any standard– and up to 33.7% admitted other questionable research practices. In surveys asking about the behaviour of colleagues, admission rates were 14.12% (N = 12, 95% CI: 9.91–19.72) for falsification, and up to 72% for other questionable research practices. Meta-regression showed that self reports surveys, surveys using the words “falsification” or “fabrication”, and mailed surveys yielded lower percentages of misconduct. When these factors were controlled for, misconduct was reported more frequently….
Considering that these surveys ask sensitive questions and have other limitations, it appears likely that this is a conservative estimate of the true prevalence of scientific misconduct.

    • Heh. This is not truly OT, Kent, given the fake role of the wave in The Guardian photo.

It seems that many of the fake peer reviewers of Mr. Chen’s papers are also named Chen. This Taiwanese comrade knows how to exploit the cultural language barrier.

    • Louis Hooffstetter says:

The Journal of Vibration Control is to be commended for recognizing this problem and taking action to stop it. The Journal Nature should take note and follow their lead. We would all be naive to think they will, but that doesn’t change the fact that they should. There is no doubt that this same despicable practice is rampant among “The Team” of climastrologists.

      Kent,

      Corrupt peer-review decided WWII?

Reality is observed. E.g., Albert Einstein & Francis Aston:
      E = mc^2 !

Reality is calculated. E.g., von Weizsacker: Nuclear binding energy equation !

  2. That’s no small wave! I measured it on the screen. It’s bigger than the buildings.

    • stewart pid says:

OMG …. its worse than we thought. Waves as big as buildings are unprecedented!

    • Leon says:

With that amount of research, you can probably qualify for a research grant.

I’m heading to South Padre this weekend. I will be able to observe the waves and I am staying in a condominium. Additional research.

I would like to be a co-author for the final report.

I called the guy in the bait stand to get a fishing report. He said he would be a peer-reviewer, but he wants a few of the bucks. I told him that would be okay, I hope you don’t mind.

“Global Sustainability requires the deliberate quest of poverty, reduced resource consumption and set levels of mortality control.” -Maurice King, University of Leeds

It’s not about stopping small waves or minuscule rises in sea level. No, instead it’s about reducing their (the know-it-all elite leftists) guilt and finding their peace by undercutting our own prosperity and enjoyable existence. The truth is that it’s about this:
“A massive campaign must be launched to de-develop the United States… [we] must design a stable, low-consumption economy.” -John Holdren (1973), Obama’s ‘Science’ Czar
“We have wished, we ecofreaks, for a disaster… to bomb us into the stone age, where we might live like Indians, with our localism, our appropriate technology, our gardens, our homemade religion, guilt free at last.” -Stewart Brand, Whole Earth Catalogue
“Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn’t it our responsibility to bring that about?” -Maurice Strong, ex UNEP Director
“We’ve got to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing.” -leftist senator Tim Wirth

Better teach the Brazilians how to play football. Germany 5 goals ahead 29 minutes in the game.

Warmists get the same treatment. Arguments people, arguments, no BS.

Its not so much the sea level that’s rising than the Guardian that’s sinking.

Guardian losses point to Graeme Wood loan

    Gurgle, gurgle.

Yah!!! The offshore Condor Cuisinarts are safe from waves now. Gee, thanks Mr Guardian.
