The Greatest Show On Earth

Today is Messi’s opportunity to become a soccer immortal.

One of the key things to watch today is how lenient the referee is in letting Germany push him around. You can’t stop Messi without getting physical, and you also can’t afford a sending off in the final.

Germany will trash Los portenos 10 to 0

Looks to me like the game will be a tough grind with the added nerves of a final that nobody wants to lose – but you never know with football. Germany are favourites but I’d prefer Argentina to win. The tradeoff with Messi is that he plays in bursts then does nothing for 4 or 5 minutes to top up his energy for the next explosive run. But he’s still the best player I’ve ever seen.

They will kick Messi off the park. One yellow card will be fine if they can stop him early on.

With the exception of a few faint sparks here and there, that was one of the most boring futbol games I’ve ever had the displeasure of watching. What a letdown from an otherwise exciting tournament. Looks like Messi will go down as just another really good player and not be joining the pantheon of “Dioses de Futbol”.

messi sucks. why? because he doesn’t help defend, barely crosses mid-field to support his team, he only starts plating soccer when he gets the ball, he never goes for the ball, he stands still as soon as he looses the ball. Hence, he will never be in the same category as pele, cruijf, maradona, van basten, ronaldo…which he so badly wants to be in. Well, mi amigo, you gotta get off your lazy butt and start playing real soccer.

Messi managed to stop himself by being tired and jaded rather than the Germans having to do anything. Not sure how he managed to pick up the golden ball award. The german goalkeeper only let in 3 gaols in 7 matches, perhaps he should have got it?

Germany is playing like Brazil did in the 60’s
