One hundred degree readings were common in Wisconsin prior to 1940, but almost never happen any more.

NOT what the NWS is saying:

    NWS Sacramento ?@NWSSacramento 20h

Has it seemed warmer than normal this year in California? That’s because it has been! Check it out: #cawx

Shows WI is 6th coldest ever, MI 8th.

Steve said “recently” compared to “prior to 1940”, and the graphs of averages and peaks makes it clear.

Yea, but that is just measuring the Unions feelings for Scott Walker. 😉

Time to change gears. Next up a new national catastrophe: Global Cooling-the next Ice Age is com coming!

  5. drtim12 says:

Hollywood predicted the cold in “The Day After Tomorrow”, So they set everyone up so that If It gets hot they were right and if it gets cold they were right. Isn’t the progressive party wonderful they can claim it all and they keep making money amd blame it all on CO2, Don’t exhale.

North Texas is getting a big dose of Global Warming today.

    • _Jim says:

So far (1:27 PM CDT), the ‘high’ has been 68 degrees. Unheard of for July in these parts.

      • Andy DC says:

Oklahoma and north Texas are only in the low to mid 60’s this afternoon. That is at least 30 degrees below normal, an incredible anomaly during mid summer. In fact yesterday, places in SW Kansas broke their all time record low maximum temperature records for the date by as much as 23 degrees!

Also those same “permanent drought” areas are getting a very nice soaking rain.

        • Phil Jones says:

Don’t worry… After some adjustment the cold temps will be gone…

Besides…. The Alarmists have us focused on the California Drought…

Maybe you have done this already and I missed it, so apologies if that is the case.

One of the interesting things you do is attempt to calibrate the raw data you plot by checking against other measures such as ice extent, heatwaves or etc. as reported by the press in the past.

You also often plot data for subsets like individual states, seasons or times of day. Have you made a plot of the states which border the Great Lakes? Given that you have also reported on ice extent on the lakes, a good calibration would be the winter or annual average of the bordering states over time checked against Great Lakes ice extent. A comparison with GISS or etc would be another strong indicator.

  9. Donkeykoch says:

we are sweltering here in Kanada – must be an anomaly predicted by AGW theorist – in Fahrenheit it is almost 110 degrees in Toronto today – Mayor Ford has lost the equivalent of 60 pounds. Last week Lake Ontario still had ice bergs – crazy world eh?

“Wisconsin is having their coldest year on record – by a wide margin.”

…. yeah, but it’s a hot cold. Toasty, even. 🙂
