Hot weather was much more common and widespread in the US before 1960. Our friends at NASA and NCDC are paid to rewrite climate history, and have been quite successful – until fairly recently.
In 1936, 75% of US HCN stations reached 100 degrees.
But the areal coverage was actually much larger – and covered everywhere except northern New England and southern Florida. All of the stations below reached 100 degrees that year.
That’s just astonishing. Funny, this is barely even mentioned in history. The dust bowl is documented, but the associated heat wave is left out.
This is probably the best argument against AGW. Yet, there’s not much to say beyond that. I think it’s just all too clear what’s going on. AGW supporters tend to look the other way.
The high record for Norfolk County, Ontario for November 4 is 21 C set in 1935. November 2 was 24 C set in 1933
Thankfully we live in mild climate times. And we complain? About what?
Our past climate/weather was not exactly the pristine paradise that alarmists would have us believe. If we went cold turkey on fossil fuels, went back to a 16th Century lifestyle and reduced CO2 to 310 ppm, this is a glimpse of the weather we had when CO2 was at that level during 1935 and 1936.
September 1935-Most intense hurricane in US history, Florida Keys.
Winter 1935-36-By far the coldest in history of Northern Plains, -60 F in North Dakota. Temperatures did not reach 0 F for weeks on end.
March 1936-Catastrophic flooding from Maine to Virginia and west to Ohio. Many high water marks set which still stand.
April 1936-Tornadoes on consecutive days hit Mississippi and Georgia, over 400 killed.
Summer 1936-The temperature reached an incredible 121 in North Dakota, several other central states reached 120. Widespread 105-115 temperatures from Midwest to Northeast and even in Ontario and Manitoba. Most records not even remotely approached during recent years.
Lower CO2 levels does not guarantee better weather!
