Yesterday I showed how Addison, New York January temperatures had been massively tampered with to cool the past by three degrees, and eliminate the cooling trend.
Perhaps they had good reason for this, and it needed to be homogenized with a nearby station to bring it in line?
Let’s look at the next station over at Elmira, N.Y. Guess what, exactly the same data tampering – they knocked three degrees off the past temperatures and made the cooling trend disappear. The early part of the 20th century was cooled five degrees. What possible error could require five degrees of data tampering?
Perhaps they believe there was a massive conspiracy of global warming deniers in 1895 tampering with the temperature record? Or more likely the temperature adjustments being made today are fraudulent, and intended to turn cooling into warming.
Steven, Keep on them, I know you will. This is a clear violation of responsible data handling. The truth will prevail.

Steven, unless I’ve missed something, this fraud is occurring in US institutions. If I knew of such evidence against UK institutions I personally would gather the evidence together and present it to the police and demand they investigate (and also ensure that every news outlet had the evidence).
So, why isn’t this happening?
Two reasons:
#1. In the USA we have to have ‘legal standing’ that is we have to prove that we are personally effected by what is being done.****
#2. The state prosecutor can decide not to bring the case to trial. That is what happened in the Heartland vs Peter Gleick case. Why Isn’t Pacific Institute’s Peter Gleick in Jail?

I have not studied the HadCrut4 record produced by UK Met Office/Hadley Centre, but their results are explained to be broadly similar to NASA GISS. Is anyone known to be looking at the HadCrut4 record in an analytical way? Would be interesting if there are supportable conclusions as there is a UK election coming up in early May.

Steve what is the stated reasoning for these particular adjustments? Do you believe there to be any necessity for adjustments due to say, changes in instrumentation?

Yep that’s a sizable amount. I didn’t mean to doubt your findings Steve. I’m a big fan and I suppose I’m still dumbfounded that such blatant and illegitimate activities are taking place. No worry about the authorities refusing to prosecute. . . .obviously there is no evidence of fraud.
It would be more appropriate to say that the adjustments are unreliable due to the lack of information provided as to why the station was adjusted.
Then that could be extended to the gridded temperature record to say that it is unreliable due to a lack of documentation due to the large number of these kinds of undocumented changes.
One also needs to recall that the raw data that Phil “Hide the Decline Trickster” Jones dog ate that is a critical part of every surface temperature record in the world renders all the worlds long-term temperature records unreliable.
The lack of random siting of surface temperature stations, the lack of controls to ensure they are all measuring the same thing in the same way, the lack of documentation as to why thousands of stations were excluded and a much smaller number selected, the hundreds of undocumented station adjustments we have seen, the lack of validating science to support gridding/extrapolation techniques amounts to a solid conclusion that what all the surface temperature records best represent is the “Tower of Babel”. No fraud there, just mass incompetence with a touch of mass hysteria mixed in.
What really scares the bejeebers out of the academic community and helps perpetuate this in a growing body of science that is pointing it out is if political momentum were achieved to eliminate all science funding that mentions global warming as one of its reasons to go forward, academic science would cease to exist. That fact should scare the bejeebers out of all of us for a whole passel of reasons..

It is when you have a lot of other data to back up the fact the adjustments are fraudulent AND the people making the adjustments have a vested interest in scamming the public.

Tax records will prove financial gain. If the truth were out, they would be unemployed, at best.
In the US legal system, tampering with or destroying evidence is known as spoilation. Generally the evidence that has been tampered with or lost is then regarded in the worst way for the party responsible for the spoilation. This provides an incentive in the US legal system to NOT destroy evidence, even if it is somewhat adverse to ones interests.
I think that for the AGW alarmists, the destroyed data should be treated similarly. We should assume that it was destroyed expressly because it does NOT support AGW.
I also think the world would get along ‘just fine’ if there were no more funding for any climate research of any kind. Some people might have to get ‘real’ jobs. The worlds smallest violin (nano-scale) is too large to play the song of my pity for them.
I seem to recall some Biblical text about honest weights and measures and bearing false witness. This temperature manipulation is similar to a butcher’s thumb resting on the scale. So if it isn’t a crime is it maybe a sin?
