Hansen Didn’t Specify What Phase Of Water He Was Referring To

When Hansen said Manhattan’s West Side Highway would be under water by 2008, he probably meant ice.

God what an ugly city. I hope I never need to go there again.

    • rah says:

Been there. Saw what I needed to see back when the towers were still up and have no desire to ever go back. BUT I have of course. Delivered to Queens and picked up right down on Broadway in Brooklyn. Driving down Broadway under the elevated train in a big truck will make one squirm a little. NYC, unlike anywhere else I can recall driving, posts their clearance heights based on significant snow being down. So was driving under clearance signs stating 12′ 10″ clearance with the trailer that requires 13′ 6″ of clearance and just squeezing under.

One block would have the Hasidic Jews with their curls and a couple blocks down would be where the hookers and drug dealers were working.

I was born in NYC. Parents moved to upstate NY. I have been back to visit relatives and at this point in my life I have no desire to ever go back north past DC

        • annieoakley says:

At this point in my life I would not go near DC.

Fredericksburg VA is where I get off onto Rt 17 and make a detour around the whole Bosnywash mess when I head up upwards New Hampshire.

“Fredericksburg VA is where I get off onto Rt 17 and make a detour around the whole Bosnywash mess when I head up upwards New Hampshire.”

Sounds like a much more scenic route anyway. Where do you cross the Hudson?

        • Gail Combs says:

At the Tappan Zee before 6:00 am. We leave NC before 2:00 PM and drive through the night. When we get into Connecticut we head north on 2ndary roads.

    Good point!
But he said the crime rate would increase, too.

Oh. Maybe he was just talking about himself and his friends?

  3. Anthony Scalzi says:

Yet again I’ll repeat that the West Side Highway was planned to be put underwater in a tunnel at the time Hansen made that prediction.

  4. emsnews says:

Just 9 minutes ago the NYT announced the people in Manhattan are going to drown and roast to death and IT IS TOO LATE.

    🙂 🙂 🙂

  5. nielszoo says:

Of course he didn’t specify. They don’t understand that whole “latent heat” and energy transfer thing. That’s just skeptical obfuscation. If there was a volcano erupting in the Hudson and Manhattan was covered in live steam clouds, it would still be “underwater.”

    Dear “Steve” / Tony,

Have you seen that there is the possibility of congressional hearings on the temperature record?http://bishophill.squarespace.com/blog/2015/2/21/congressional-hearings.html

  7. scizzorbill says:

Obviously, Jimmy H made a boo boo. But then, every (wrong) prediction he ever made was to scare the public, and goad politicians into making draconian policies to achieve ‘The Agenda’ which is all about control/power, and $$. JH and his ex boss, the POS in the WH are two liars in the same pea pod.

It is nice to have at least one decent investigative reporter.

What does the New York Times have? Why they have reporter Walter Duranty, Stalin’s stooge and his clones.

Treasonable Doubt: The Harry Dexter White Spy Case

….David Engerman has provided an important portrait of, among others, New York Times reporter Walter Duranty, by placing his patently dishonest and pro-Soviet reportage in the context of the Left’s commitment to strict economic and developmentalist planning during the 1930s.[3] Craig might have explained whether [Harry Dexter] White’s encounters with Soviet and American communists were indicative of an admiration for the supposed dynamism of Soviet-style planning, the loss of faith in capitalism so persuasive among intellectuals during the Great Depression, a belief in the historical inevitability of communism’s fundamental goodness, or, finally, a fundamental and even willful obliviousness to Soviet atrocities….

      https://www.cia.gov/library/center-for-the-study-of-intelligence/csi-publications/csi-studies/studies/vol49no1/html_files/harry_dexter_8.html

…and even willful obliviousness to Soviet Muslim atrocities…

      GEE, doesn’t that sound familiar.

This passage was a bit of an eye opener.

….He [ Bruce Craig]argues that White represented no more than a “trusted individual” to the Soviets and that his actions can be explained by his belief in a Rooseveltian*** internationalism predicated on continued Soviet-American cooperation.

….In Treasonable Doubt, Craig attempts to defend White by setting into context the three basic charges against him: that White on occasion passed documents to the Soviets; that he used his influence at the Treasury to hire and promote communists; and that he deliberately attempted to steer US policies in a pro-Soviet direction. The author admits that White personally engaged in several inappropriate meetings with Soviet intelligence officials and concedes that papers produced by Chambers in 1948 showed that White had passed sensitive information to the Soviets on occasion. And he admits that White oversaw a monetary policy division at the Treasury Department full of communists and that a real Soviet intelligence ring, the “Silvermaster group,” operated practically under White’s nose at the department. But Craig explains these actions by referring to White’s anti-fascism…

Goddard: NYT just did a massive hit piece about Dr. Soon. They are now agitating for him to be eliminated from his work positions and kicked out of the public realm.

NYC is nearly frozen solid yet the Bilderberg owners of the NYT continues its insane war against anyone who doesn’t believe in global warming. This open persecution of anyone who defies this insane belief system is disgusting and dangerous.

    As we all well know.

<a href=http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/22/us/ties-to-corporate-cash-for-climate-change-researcher-Wei-Hock-Soon.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=first-column-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news/Corporate cash for climate change researcher Soon

    • Gail Combs says:

There is a reason for that hit piece. Dr. Soon has a very important paper due to be published that kills CAGW dead. This is an attack to completely rubbish his reputation before that paper can be published.

These SOBs really make me sick. Even though I am an agnostic, I really hope there is a He!! and they end up in Dante’s Ninth Circle (Treachery) Round 4 named Judecca. It is the worst of the hells reserved for the traitors to their lords and benefactors.

… traitors are distinguished from the “merely” fraudulent in that their acts involve betraying a special relationship of some kind. There are four concentric zones (or “rounds”) of traitors. These rounds correspond, in order of seriousness, to betrayal of family ties, betrayal of community ties, betrayal of guests, and betrayal of liege lords. In contrast to the popular image of Hell as fiery, the traitors are frozen in a lake of ice known as Cocytus, with each group encased in ice to progressively greater depths….

In the very centre of Hell, condemned for committing the ultimate sin (personal treachery against God), is Satan. Satan is described as a giant, terrifying beast with three faces, one red, one black, and one a pale yellow… Satan is waist deep in ice, weeping tears from his six eyes, and beating his six wings as if trying to escape, although the icy wind that emanates only further ensures his imprisonment (as well as that of the others in the ring). Each face has a mouth that chews on a prominent traitor…..

      • gofer says:

“The reason for the latest attack on Soon is that he is the co-author, with Christopher Monckton et al, of a paper published earlier this year in the prestigious Chinese Academy of Sciences journal Science Bulletin.

This study — Why Models Run Hot — infuriated the alarmist establishment, first because it was unusually popular (receiving over 10,000 views — thousands more than most scientific papers get) and second because it made a mockery of their cherished computer models.

        As Paul Driessen explains:

Results from an irreducibly simple climate model,” concluded that, once discrepancies in IPCC computer models are taken into account, the impact of CO2-driven manmade global warming over the next century (and beyond) is likely to be “no more than one-third to one-half of the IPCC’s current projections” – that is, just 1-2 degrees C (2-4 deg F) by 2100! That’s akin to the Roman and Medieval Warm Periods and would be beneficial, not harmful.

Rather than attack the substance of the paper, the warmists reverted to their usual tricks, lead by Kert Davies, an activist lawyer who works for a Greenpeace front organisation called Climate Investigations Center”

      • Gail Combs says:

        gofer,

Soon is also writing a paper with another scientist, a professor of physics. I have not seen signs that it has been published yet.

The other scientist said Soon was being very careful that the paper was as well researched and as well written as possible.
