The Antarctic summer is -51F and the Greenland winter is headed down to -60F. The meltdown dooms us.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

With the “Low” shown for “Yesterday,” it’s hard to imagine how they managed to survive! Hmm. I’m skeptical about the accuracy of that report, but I expect Al Gore to jump on it as further evidence of catastrophic global warming?
You’re supposed to be using McMurdo’s data… the one where the Stevenson Screen is safely protected from those nasty winds by all those heated buildings and closer to that unfrozen water. The site at Amundsen-Scott is poorly sited from the base… a couple of hundred meters away, above and towards prevailing winds. How are you going to get more grant money using that data?
Perfect for all those masses of climate refugees that moved up there. Oh wait, there still aren’t any are there?
dang….frost delay on the 1st green….now i’m going to have to put on a sweater…
I thought we are talking about Boston. 🙂
I though we were talking about North Carolina. The Polar Express came roaring in yesterday evening with gusts of 40 mph and knocked out the power just about the time the temperature was headed for 16°F. (House is all electric with no wood stove)
Considering it was 55°F at 4:00 pm that is a wee bit of a change!
We are finally up to 23°F with the power back on.
Here in the Piedmont Triad, I didn’t lose power but a lot of people in the area have, because of the winds. That has calmed down some but today’s high is only around 25F, with snow forecast for tomorrow afternoon/evening. We did see some scattered flurries last night around 9 PM but they didn’t last long and there was no accumulation.
We had a wild evening last night in the DC area. A snow squall came thru about 7 PM with 60 mph, which dropped 1-3″ in 20 minutes. Absolute white out conditions. Now only 15 degrees at 1 PM, everywhere else but National Airport that is 20. On a windy, sunny day there should not be a 5 degree tempearture difference duirng daytime. There never used to be ten years ago.
I expect that the unwashed masses have no idea that it is summer in Antarctica and that the daytime high temperatures near the coastline don’t often appear to rise above freezing. Just how is that supposed to melt all the snow and ice in Antarctica? Inquiring minds would like to know…
How is the wind at the South Pole not coming out of the north?
