The US is facing a spectacular, sustained blast of cold air over the next few weeks.
Without fossil fuels, there would be grossly inadequate amounts of heat and light, and food wouldn’t be transported to the stores. Every tree in the forest would be cut down for firewood, and wildlife would go extinct from hungry people seeking food. After the wildlife was gone, people would start eating other people. The air would be thick with smoke. The waterways would filled with human waste.

When the Food Safety Modernization Act actually gets enforced in the next couple of years expect to see many farmers give up and quit. — The average age of a principal operator of a farm has increased from 54 years old in 1997 to 57 years old in 2007. (USDA, 2007 Census of Agriculture). The percentage of principle farm operators 65 years or older has increased almost 10 percent since 1969.
There are 2.2 million farms in the USA (1.75 million crop farms) but only 70,642 have gross sales of 1/2 million or more. (73752 are incorporated) The last I looked the average farm income was a negative $1,400 a year. In other words most farmers can not afford the cost of the new regulations and are too old to put up with government B.S.. Many will be stubborn like me and refuse to get off the land. They will just quit farming food products and go into timber, fiber animals. Others will sell out to developers and retire. To really push this we have the ending of the biofuel scam which will hit farmers hard.
I won’t get into the rest of the nasty details but the WTO agreement on Ag made sure the same sort of thing has happened world wide. For example Portugal lost over 60% of her independent farmers. At this point we have ten transnational corporations consolidating up to 80% of the control in tea, coffee, sugar, pork, chicken, grain… Without independents selling direct to customers the Ag cartel gets to set the price of food it is just that simple. Goldman Sachs already created the 2008 food crisis via a derivative called the Goldman Sachs Commodity Index (GSCI). The result was riots in 60 countries.
