The animation below shows the huge increase in old/thick ice in the Beaufort Sea over the past two years. If this trend continues, ice will be back to 1980’s levels in three or four years.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Just curious on yur take about articles I’ve read in the last day or so about the ice maxes this winter are on pace to be a record low. How are they wrong?
Given that it has already been above the 2006 maximum, I would have to say they are complete morons
http://ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/plots/icecover/icecover_current.png
Winter maximum means nothing. It can just mean the ice is spread thin, and more vulnerable to summer melt. This year there is a shortage of ice in the Okhotsk Sea, which isn’t even part of the Arctic.
Steven. I and at least on other get this message when we attempt to make a credit card donation.
“The card you entered cannot be used for this payment. Please enter a different credit or debit card number.”
I don’t know what that is about. I was able to make a $1.00 debit donation to myself. Thanks for trying though!
Oliver, Try Pay Pal.
It is also much safer for over the net transactions.
Neal S,
We use a credit card with a $500 limit and not a checking account.
My Hubby and I go round and round on this but I absolutely refuse to allow any transaction via the net using a checking account. At least with that credit card I limit my risk to $500.
Anything above $500 I am going to see the merchandise in person unless it is a trusted source like Caprine Supply, Premier1 Supply or Jeffers.
(My neighbor bought a backhoe via Ebay and lost his shirt to the tune of several thousand dollars.)
Some people for various reason may not want to set up Paypal with their checking account. The donation winds up going via Paypal no matter what, but Paypal will supposedly allow use of credit or debit cards for people who do not have Paypal set up with their checking account. I DO have a Paypal set up with my checking and that is how I have made donations previously. But I just now tried using a debit card WITHOUT logging into my checking associated Paypal, and it refuses.
I have sent a message to Navy Federal, who are my debit card provider asking them what is going on. Should I learn anything about this, I will share it here.
By the way, for any current service members of any branch, or veterans, or family of same, Navy Federal offers some really good financial services, and except for this one glitch, I highly recommend them.
Thanks for the info and your service to our country Neal. I’m not sure I would put this one on Navy Federal though. I tried to donate with a private bank VISA and that was rejected with same message Omanuel posted. I then tried an AMEX and received same error message. I’m wondering if it is Pay Pal that is the spoke in the wheel.
Regardless, please do post an update should you learn more. Thanks!
Thanks Hugh. I will forward that to my daughter (Air force veteran) and my brother (Navy veteran). I also have an Army ranger nephew (active) and a rescue swimmer niece currently stationed in Japan. I fall into the category of family member.
No prob….Lord what a great family….kudos to all.
One thing I forgot in my above post. There is an email listed for Tony at the top of the page. If I remember correctly, the beginning of the email address is ‘realsciencejobs’.
I attempted to contact Tony via that email address to privately give him a heads-up to the donation problem and received an automatic return stating email could not be delivered. For whatever that is worth….
Navy Federal responded that they have no record of declined transactions, so this would indicate that the trouble is with Paypal. I have now made inquiry with Paypal and we shall see what they say.
Thanks for the follow-up Neal. Should they reply, please post Paypal’s response here. Thanks again…

So much for what we hear from NSIDC. Perhaps someone should contact Serreze, and ask him to explain why these poor people are stranded.

Lol noaa hottest winter ever and if u don’t agree u are a moon landing denier
Here’s some data from NSIDC on the “recovery” of the sea ice extent:
http://meteomodel.pl/klimat/arcticice_nsidc.png
I think it’s too early to talk about ‘recovery’. The ice extent anomaly is essentially constant ever since the annual cycle returned to pre-2007 state in 2013. Return to 1980 levels in three to four would be … alarmingly fast, I’d say. Even if it was recovering as fast as it was declining right before 2007, it would take about 8 years.
Here I added a 365-day mean to the anomaly graph to provide clearer view. 2013 seems to be very close to 2007 played backwards.

Sorry for unlabeled horizontal axis, I’d need to spend way too much time to put years at proper positions.
Reblogged this on Climatism and commented:
Arctic ice is a ‘thing on the past’…
Nasa 2013 ice free arctic lol
I imagine that a past trend should not be used as indication of a future trend unless you have not demonstrated a significant sensititivity of the measurand to a driving force and the trend of the driving force is quite clear. I think that is a kind of (week) argument we would tend to critizise if it was used by opponents attributing recent warming to human impact on the environment.
The prediction is also based on the increase of ice thickness, as well as the location of that thicker ice, as well as the AMO tuning colder.
80 north has had well above ave temps this winter, so I guess the recovery is due to much above ave snowfall.
I do not think the sea-ice-extent graphs include the amazing six-foot-high bergs coming ashore on Cape Cod. https://sunriseswansong.wordpress.com/2015/03/10/amazing-cape-cod-sea-ice/
Where’s the recovery in extent now?
You can go ahead and delete my comment if you want. Its been in moderation 35 hours asshole !.
That little kerfluffle your boys had with Hope was bullshit fake and rediculous. where you playing hope steve ? If so you have some issues. Only a dumbass would believe that was a real argument, and only ego driven assholes like yourself would believe that readers would buy it. I don’t buy it, and have lost all respect for you. Im outt here.
