Dear Heidi, Stop Lying About Heat

Climate Central has been pushing the hot weather scam particularly hard, with flagrant lies and disinformation like this.

Summers in most of the U.S. are already warmer than they were in the 1970s. And climate models tell us that summers are going to keep getting hotter as greenhouse gas emissions continue. What will this warming feel like? Our new analysis of future summers illustrates just how dramatic warming is going to be by the end of this century if current emissions trends continue unabated.

87 Cities, 4 Scenarios and 1 Really Hot Future | Climate Central

There has been no trend in the number of 100 degree days in DC, with the worst summers being 1900 and 1930.

US summer temperatures peaked in the 1930’s and bottomed in the 1970’s. Heidi starting her trend in the 1970’s is hard core blatant fraud, intended only to deceive.

The frequency of hot days in the US has plummeted, and is at historic lows.

The animation below compares the number of stations that reached 40C in 2014 vs. 1936.

The US used to be much hotter. Heidi’s claims of increasing heat serve no purpose other than to mislead readers.

Just commented on the Climate Central story linked above:

    You said:

“Of course, the future number of hot days depends on future emissions.”

    Can you be serious?

What is your evidence that there is any correlation, much less causation, between so-called “heat-trapping” emissions and measured temperature anywhere on earth?

Your predictions, are, in effect, weather forecasts 5o years into the future.

Using your causation theory (“More CO2 equals higher measured temperatures in specific locations.”) wouldn’t you also have predicted that these past 10 years, US cities would have experienced significant numbers of 100 degree days?

With your (faulty) logic, this “heat-trapping” gas should be cooking American cities? And every year, as emission grow, the temperature will get hotter, and hotter, right? That’s your modeled prediction for the future.

CO2 emissions have skyrocketed in the last 10 years, right?

Well, let’s look at reality, and throw away your modeled predictions:

Here’s a list of monthly extremes records for Maryland (state closest to DC), month by month.

    http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0930187.html

Notice that the months for which the record is over 100 degrees, April through September, the years that those records were set:

    1902, 1904, 1936, 1988, 1936, 1918, 1932

The most recent “heat wave” record was nearly 30 years ago! Since 1988, we’ve been spewing CO2 like crazy.

The CO2, by measurements, clearly has NO EFFECT on actual temperatures.

Here’s a graph of one location in Maryland of the number of annual days over 100 degrees, in the last 100 years:

At what point is your assumption/theory falsified?

And this is why they get so annoyed. Instead of arguing by assertion, our host merely cuts to the chase with evidence. Boom! Instant victory. Case closed.

    Dear Steven,

    I am a pathological liar.

And anyone who has in their statement “And climate models tell us that ….” have never actually listened to the models, which are also ‘pathological liars’.

  4. sunsettommy says:

Only bogus scientists, will use long into the future unverified climate models, then come to a conclusion, as if it was already going to happen.

    • Gail Combs says:

Worse they KNOW the climate is chaotic and therefore prediction is impossible due to the sensitivity to the initial state and the complex nature of the interactions. However that does not stop them from wasting buckets and buckets of tax payer money and making bogus claims about the future of the climate.

…in climate research and modeling we should recognise that we are dealing with a complex non linear chaotic signature and therefore that long-term prediction of future climatic states is not possible

  7. Andy DC says:

Every idiot know that the 1930’s heat and drought resulted from vile, racist, sexist, homophobic, gun toting white trash, who raped the earth in the Great Plains.

Now doesn’t that sound good? Maybe I can apply for lots of grant money from the Obama Administration.

  9. Rico L says:

The planet is 4.5 Billion years old. Looking at temperature trends during a brief period in human occupation is like taking a 5 year old’s temperature for an hour and deciding what they are going to be eating, drinking and working as when they are 50! It is bloody stupid. Even more stupid is to then change the record because they turned out to be a bus driver instead of a plumber!
