I live in a neighborhood where I am one of very few white people. I almost never talk to any other white people outside of work when I am in Maryland.
My neighbors and friends here talk about family, dogs, weather, sports, politics, religion, cycling, etc. One of the beautiful young checkers at Whole Foods gets her hair done differently every week. I always complement her on her latest hair do, and she loves it.
Why would we want to talk about race? That is for racists. America was past that until the race-baiter in chief came along.
Fear of racial and religious differences is used, like fear of climate change, to control the public.

Ten years ago I considered the whole issue dead. Some of my neighbors are black, some Hispanic some various flavors of white. I really don’t care. I spent the afternoon at a birthday party with kids of every flavor. The kids didn’t care. I didn’t care and neither did any of the adults. We all had a great time on a very lovely afternoon.
Obummer’s race baiting is one of the things I hate most about that man. Instead of being a role model for the blacks he continues to be a communist community organizer. He continually is stirring up hatred where there was none before.
The progressives are the worst thing that ever happen to the blacks.

I live in a similar area in Prince Georges County, MD and have no trouble whatsoever getting along with my neighbors. Except during the Trayvon Martin nonsense when some black people, inspired by our wonderful President and his race baiting friends, tried to prevent me from getting out of my car. At which time I ignored them and waited until they got tired of playing their stupid game.
My brother lives in Waldorf, and cannot sell his house fast enough. As more blacks have moved in, crime has increased, and a jogger was murdered by a black teen on a jogging trail a quarter mile from their house in an exclusive neighborhood. What was once a safe neighborhood is now not.
Math is not racist, and neither am I.
There are many blacks who are better human beings than myself, but the black culture has issues unlike any other in this country.
… and a great deal of those problems can be laid at the feet of the Democrats and Progressives that need to keep them poor, ignorant, dependent on government and voting for beads and trinkets every cycle. Every new (and old) federal program to “help” inner city poor keeps them down and keeps hammering into them that the ONLY reason they don’t have is because someone took it away and we’ll take it back for you. It makes me sick to see the wasted lives of millions of good people. Especially in places like DC, Chicago, Detroit and the rest of the Democrat controlled urban hellholes where Progressive government actively keeps these folks from a better life.

Which party passed the drug laws that affect blacks more often than whites? Which party has more influence in the public education system that fails to educate black students? Which party runs places like DC, Chicago, Detroit and the other urban hell holes? Which party sponsored banning “fast food restaurants” in California to “protect the poor?”
That’s the party which “took away the goodies.”

I absolutely love my black brothers and sisters. I will state again that many of them are far better humans than I will ever be. Frederick Douglas is a hero of mine, as is Thomas Sowell, and Condi Rice (whom I would marry if she would have me). But as a culture, the blacks have a real problem.
I was raised not to see color, except in military uniforms. My father mentored young black officers in the deep south in the 1960’s, and one of my fondest memories is taking rides in a brand new 1969 Stingray with one of my dad’s black students. My best friend in High School was the only black student in our class, and it wasn’t until I spent several years working in East St Louis that I began to question black culture.
If we cannot discuss the problem, we cannot fix it. I pray that one day our nation will truly reflect what MLK dreamed of.

I think the pursuit of crime is markedly different between black and white people. For whilst black people tend create problems on a local scale, white people go for it, hell-for-leather, on a global scale. 🙂

My business partner of fourteen years is black. Check out my photo – I’m white. We hit it off right from the start and and have been developing technology, doing great business and have had a great friendship for over fourteen years. I have many black friends from my military days. It was so funny about a year ago, I was at a party with a bunch of black folk – the man of the house’s son was going to West Point; what a gem of a young man – and the conversation somehow turned to evil white republicans. Of course, I am a life-long republican and a conservative one at that – I kept my mouth shut of course!
Life in America right now is quite dynamic and personally, I am optimistic about people getting along better despite the many set backs recently with our poor national leadership. It is natural for people with similar abilities, needs, goals, personal preferences and all that goes with that get together and get along regardless of race or creed.

Yes, I agree! I guess my point is that nowadays there is a kind of social frontier between whites and blacks in America, where before there were solid barriers – and yes there is still plenty of what I would call “casual hatred” practiced. It isn’t as bad as it used to be though, and I am looking forward to more walls falling in the future.
There is another class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs, partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.
