The geniuses at the Washington Post think Florida is ravaged by climate change. Florida now has more people than frozen New York. The frequency of hurricanes has dropped in Florida by 50% since the 19th century, and they are currently experiencing their longest period on record without a hurricane strike.
It wasn’t always like that. In 1926, Miami was destroyed by America’s costliest natural disaster.
The current ravages in Florida are just too much for any human to bear.

Evidently, the Miami Herald isn’t constrained by this principle of only reporting true facts. The entire article seems to be advocating the dissemination of the anthropogenic climate change hoax.
The Miami Herald is known for that and has a long-established record of promoting the idea that AGW is a proven fact. The Herald is at least as left-leaning as the Washington Post.
I followed the comments by the Progressive geniuses in the WaPo thread for a while. Anecdotally, it seems the most frequent claim is that Republicans are fascists and will either start burning books soon or did so already.
The most scientific claim is by a climatologist named Interstate36 who puts the record-breaking low hurricane activity *) in proper context:
So the “record-breaking” lack of extreme weather is an extreme caused by global warming. And the climatologists have predicted that, exactly.
He collected many likes by other WaPo readers before his comment rolled off the first pages.

Yes, Trotta actually said that while batting her cute eyelashes and looking totally bewildered at this demand she use only TRUE ‘facts’ and not openly and blatantly lie. 🙂
What are the latest facts about sea level rise in Florida over the past 50 or 100 years? I lived down here 40 years ago (on the east coast) and am down here again. If there has been any significant sea level rise in those 40 years I can’t see it. The warmists present the argument that sea level rise is going to “ravage” a lot of the Florida coastline.

The rate since 1898 is 2.0 mm/yr currently over the last 30 years 1.2 mm/yr which amounts to a deceleration of about a minus -0.2 mm/yr²
Further south they don’gt seem to care much about sea level and tide gauges.
Global warming is so awful that hundreds of millions of humans willfully move and travel to where the globe is warmer!
Living in Florida since 1972, this has been the least impactful 10 years weather-wise that I can recall. The original home I lived in was on the interior of Tampa Bay and in the 60’s a hurricane drove water up the bank to the edge of the house. Coming from the North, this made us concerned about how “safe” a waterfront home would be. Nothing close ever since.
2004 was brutal with four (4) hurricanes, but all that did was let the insurance companies gouge us for 10+ years.
My daughter did a research paper on the Florida Scrub, which is a unique dune habitat found both coastal and inland. As part of her research, we learned that the inland Scrub was actually coastal when oceans were 100′ higher.
“The Lake Wales Ridge scrubs occupy remnants of ancient beaches and sand dunes that marked Florida’s shoreline millions of years ago when sea levels were 100′ higher.”
Guess there are a lot of coal plants and SUVs hidden in the sand from a million years ago.

Notice the sea level does nothing but rise. However the actual science shows a different story. The sea level in tectonically stable areas has FALLEN 1.5 meters since the Holocene Optimum, 6,000 years ago. No where in that chart is the Holocene Optimum shown as a peak with a fall of 1.5 meters from that time until today. Of course the lie is made by using a scale in tens of meters. Placing the peak data in hard to see yellow and then drawing a straight line below the peak. Wiki shows that graph and a 100 year graph but not the critical graph of just the Holocene since the Younger Dryas.

And this, Steven, is why you’ll never be a climate scientist. As we all know, the proper starting point for measuring temperature is 1979 because that was an abnormally cold year. Can’t you see that the proper starting point for counting Florida hurricane strikes is 2006? Seriously, look into your crystal ball at the year 2040. Climate scientists will be telling us that Florida never got hit by a hurricane 30 years ago.

We need to have all our money confiscated and give up our cars and electricity, so we can return to the idylllic climate of 1935, when the worst hurricane in history devastated the Florida Keys. Not the mention the Dust Bowl at the same time, which produced widespread record heat and drought, as well as the worst crop disaster in US history. During 1936, the US was importing grain!

I don’t think there will ever be another like WW II. Massive air fleets. 1,000 bomber raids being attacked by waves of fighters, in a manner similar to Calvary charges. Huge fleets of a 1,000 plus ships staging massive amphibious invasions.
But we will most certainly see the modern equivalents of the Kamikazes, just as we did on 9/11.

At least online, the Washington Post has changed “ravaged” to “threatened”. Perhaps they read your post.
It occurred to me some time back that the widely reported “flooding” incidents are exactly what you could expect from a neglected and decaying sewer system. Apparently the city government of Miami Beach has the same idea.
