Three equivocating words, “may,” “mostly” and “typical,” expose this nonsense for the propaganda that it is.

  2. darrylb says:

Roy Spencer has pictures supporting the data indicating increased great lakes ice.

I live on Superior durring the winters. I can tell you this is 100% BS. They froze over completely last winter. This one just passed was well over 90% frozen.

  3. Kevin says:

Chicago had a concrete shortage last year in the fall because of the reduced amount of shipping due to the ice coverage on the great lakes. I expect this to happen again this year.

  4. gator69 says:

Well a glacier is no lake.

    Commies.

Am I missing something? When water evaporates, it cools the water body, favoring ice formation. And the vapor pressure of water and ice at 0°C are almost the same at 0.61 kPa. So ice and water at 0°C give you almost the same evaporation rate. Unless the ambient temperatures are significantly increased, there should be little chance there would be no ice formation.

  7. Psalmon says:

The other story on the Lakes is levels have continued to rise over the past two years, so much so that the IJC has had to almost double the flows on the St. Mary’s River. It used to be about 3-4 gates equivalent during lower water years. As far as I can find it’s been 7 since last June. Without that action, Superior would have started hitting record levels.

When levels are down again who will remember that humans cut off the peak and caused the water to drop. Nobody.

It is obvious from that chart that global warming is out of control. We had better enact a HUGE carbon tax RIGHT NOW or we will all die! (sarc)

My diagnosis is Brain ischemia from the bow tie resulting a head ache and over the long term a sub normal IQ.

  10. Bob Greene says:

In more than 20 years of experincing Michigan winters, not one of them was described as normal. All the 8nes I experienced were not noral. So, any Great Lakes ice coverage has to be not normal.

The Great Lakes are crazy hot this summer. Lake Erie is on fire. Lake Superior is almost swimmable, much warmer than 2014 and even 2013.

It’s going to be tough to freeze them like the last 2 winters did.
