It’s ok with them since obviously the greatest part of their readers are not smart enough to remember. If those readers had the capacity to see through the total BS printed in that rag the “Old Gray Lady” and “Newspaper of Record” would have died long ago.

Now don’t get me wrong. There is a place for women in Spec Ops but just not on the teams. Actually DF has had some women in it for years. Working clandestine ops, a female can be a great asset. A couple pretending to be lovers can go places and do things without particular notice that a single military age male cannot. And of course there are times and places where a female can go where a male cannot.
Personally I have no problem with females in any job, be it military, or civil fire and rescue, as long as they can meet the EXACT same standards expected of the males and will be an asset to the operational capability of the unit. In the case cited, they have failed to prove they can do that. And that is too be expected for probably somewhere over 90% of the women in ground combat arms MOSs.
That being said, many women did serve with distinction in combat during WW II in the Soviet military. And more recently Israel has also found women that do well in combat arms. So I don’t have a problem with it as long ad they don’t expect their male counterpart to lug that 80 mm mortar barrel or base plate over hill and dale for them because their maximum cramp relief is working that day.
My CIA mom did that during the Cold War. Once, she was in Nepal and goofed and ended up inside China and was stopped by a troop of Chinese.
They said, ‘You American spy.” She said, ‘Why would America send a six foot tall woman to spy on the Chinese?’ They thought this was silly, too and let her pass.
Later, when she was doing business in Beijing, she told Chou En Lai about this and he laughed. On the other hand, he figured she was CIA anyways. Lots of scientists were also undercover CIA during the Cold War, a huge number of them were doing this.
Oh, about the Soviet women fighters: most were peasants who did hard labor in fields. Farm work makes for the best soldiers of either sex. Not due to pumping weights or training. The muscles we use doing hard labor are different, mostly SNEW, not bulk muscle.
And endurance, long hours working in bad weather…I used to run a farm in NY before my husband got too sick and we had cows, horses, sheep, etc. During blizzards and bad storms we had to be mostly outside doing things. Sheep, for example, lamb in spring and if a bad storm shows up and it always does, they tend to drop their babies in the middle of it all and we would have to find them and bring them in, etc.
This need to be outside in wind, rain and snow hardens farmers and we won many wars in our history due to the US being mainly a farming nation. Also, farmers tend to have multiple skills and we fix our tractors on the field or know how to use multiple tools, how to find water, how to make a fire with nearly nothing and of course, one of our favorite things: killing animals and hunting! Big, big skills in warfare.
The double standards really irked me. When I went to jump school the women did not have to do nearly the physical training that the men did. They did not have to run as far and as fast. They did not have to do the pushups nor the chin ups that the males did.
Right off the bat the black hats (Airborne instructors) told us all our physical training was to ensure we could control the parachute during descent and had built up the muscles to easily sustain the shock of a PLF (Parachute Landing Fall).
I did not object to the PT but I did object to being treated like some kind of idiot with such foolish lies. So during ground week while hanging on “The Nut Cracker” in a parachute harness practicing slips by pulling on the risers I pointed this out to a black hat. I said “Sgt. Airborne, women sure must have a better technique at slipping and doing PLFs than we male soldiers do. ” The black hat, who had been the one of those spewing the BS of why we did PT before asked me why I said that. My answer was “Well the women don’t need to do push ups and chin ups to build up their muscles like we males do so they must naturally have superior technique.”
The next morning I was in the “Gig Pit” because of some imagined uniform infraction doing gorilla drills and push ups and what ever other thing he could think of and I was the last to get out. We both made our points but mine cost me a little extra sweat and saw dust in my pants.
Actually, now we have proof (about as much as some climate scientists have) that whatever is stated in the New York Times must be the opposite of the truth.
Or it may be the result of the “Al Gore, New York Times effect”.
Read about anything said in the financials and then do the opposite.
I used to work with a guy who was an Obamaphile and read the NYT. He is a complete nutter.

April 8, a date typically reserved for Spring weather in Greece, suddenly turned cold on Holy Wednesday with snow in mountain regions. The Buffy camp at Mount Parnitha, north of Athens, has been covered with layers of snow after it started to snow at 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Residents at Carpenisi in Central Greece woke up to a white city with 10 cm of snow and snow chains needed for cars.

Due to the effect of increasing snowfall the TEM Istanbul-Ankara highway snow fell in a single lane. Long queues formed in the TEM. Ankara will continue to have snowfall throughout the day.
The impact of snowfall has increased, especially in Ankara. Heavy snow TEM Motorway closed the Ankara-Istanbul direction. The road was reduced to single lane and floating vehicles were long queues of traffic.
