Tuvalu Devastation Over The Last 70 Years

Thanks to your SUV, the beaches at Tuvalu are only slightly larger than they were 70 years ago.

Yes, all of that devastation is clearly a result of evil American capitalism and greed!

This tree, near the coast in the Maldives, would have been swept away by high
tides if sea levels were rising. An Australian sea-level team pulled the tree down, so
it would not remain as proof that sea levels were not rising! But shortly thereafter,
when Mörner returned to the Maldives to make a film, he found the torn-down tree,
still green, and placed it in the ground to take this photo.

Yep. Happens every time gas and oil prices drop. A smart investor would be looking to buy rights there from investors who are looking to recoup losses.

If OPEC is good at anything, it is manipulating supplies when they see a boom.

Hope Forfleece will never be happy. Progressives never are…

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may
be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than
under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes
sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for
our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of
their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same
time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with
intolerable insult. To be “cured” against one’s will and cured of states which
we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet
reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants,
          imbeciles, and domestic animals.”

True, they have taken away the main complaint, all that she had in her sad life.

          She will be distraught !

I wonder if prospecting for helium will be cost effective.

From 2001-2013, sea level at the Funafuti, Tuvalu, tide gauge has been essentially flat.

An older gauge shows a rise of about 1.2mm/year from 1985-2001.

(Note that sea level varies seasonally and appears to drop significantly in el Nino years.)

SkS claims sea level at Tuvalu rose 5.1mm/year 1950-2009. Apparently there was a dramatic rise prior to actually measuring it.

    • nutso fasst says:

(Oops, commented before I saw the previous Tuvalu blog post.)

    • AndyG55 says:

As soon as we start measuring accurately, warming stops.

So all this wind and solar “crap” would have been unnecessary, all they needed to do was install some proper measurement regimes.. much less expensive !

  4. AndyG55 says:

“Apparently there was a dramatic rise prior to actually measuring it.”

Yeah, its odd isn’t it. Nearly all the current pseudo-warming is where it isn’t being properly measure. Or where they think they can get away with reversing the measured trend.
