The administration contends that changing ice levels in the Arctic could require additional U.S. military presence in the region, justifying the need for the Pentagon to commit significant time and resources to monitoring the effects of climate change.
“Decreasing seasonal sea ice in the Arctic has made some Arctic waters navigable for longer periods and, as a result, may contribute to new economic opportunities in commercial shipping, oil exploration, and tourism. This could eventually increase the need for a U.S. military and homeland security presence in the Arctic, particularly in the maritime environment,” the study said.

The Navy already measures Arctic sea ice, and they show very thick multi-year ice blocking the Northwest Passage for hundreds of miles in the Beaufort Sea.
The Northwest Passage is completely impassable now. But in 1904, it was open.
As always, Obama has absolutely no clue what he is talking about or doing.

The higher the ambitions in the Arctic, the more icebreakers under construction. That appears to be the case, at least for Russia. The country currently has at least 14 icebreakers under construction and several more under planning.
If NASA can use their rocket engines, maybe the Navy can hitch a ride on these to get all the measurements they need.

If you read the non-highlited portion, he did navigate the north-west passage. And it was in 1904. The year he saw open waters (the highlighted portion of the artical above) was 1901 I believe.

Amundsen did complete the NW passage in 1904. I’ve seen his ship, which is sunk in the harbor in Cambridge Bay, Victoria Island with just a few parts above water. I dont know why no one has sought to ressurect it.

_ Some planets like Jupiter
_ Ordinary stars like the Sun
_ Galaxies like the Milky Way
_ The now expanding Universe
II. The Future
There are two diverging paths ahead:
1. Those controlling the puppet world leaders and leaders of the national academies of science will continue on their deceitful path, attempt to reduce human population to a level that is sustainable with so-called renewable energy in a return to the <bDARK AGES.. This path will cause great damage to society and will ultimately destroy the current world leaders.
2. Those same leaders will recognize and accept that a CONSCIOUS & INTELLIGENT MIND guides NEUTRON REPULSION in creating and sustaining atoms, lives and worlds in the solar system. Science and spirituality will merge and human evolution will advance to a higher level, probably using NEUTRON REPULSION in cores of heavy atoms as a sustainable form of energy on Earth.
I.e., Obama’s “Siege Against Reality” is part of the post-WWII effort to avoid the reality that we live exactly 1 AU (one astronomical unit) from a pulsar that made our chemical elements, birthed the solar system 5 Ga ago, sustained the origin and evolution of life on Earth after ~3.8 Ga ago, and maintains dominant control over every atom, life and planet in the solar system today. Society is now on path #1, a return path to the Dark Ages.
Path #2 will instead require society to merge scientific and spiritual insights into a Higher Level of Evolution, as Nobel Laureate Max Planck explained in his 1944 speech in Florence, Italy: “As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear-headed science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about the atoms this much: There is no matter as such!
