Climate change is making the Texas panhandle, birthplace of the state’s iconic Longhorn, too hot and dry to raise beef. What happens to the range when the water runs out?
Soon, environmental activists and reporters began to ask whether “drought”—a temporary weather pattern—was really the right term for what was happening in the state, or whether “desertification” was more appropriate. “We’re on our fourth year of drought,” Katharine Hayhoe, director of the climate science center at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, told the industry magazine Meatingplace. “In order to replenish depleted reservoirs and soil moisture, we don’t need just a normal year or just a single rainfall. We need an unusually wet year to get back to normal conditions.” But the early months of 2015 have seen less than 1.4 inches of total precipitation—not even a third of what is considered normal rainfall, much less enough to replenish surface water and groundwater resources.

I love it when these clowns make a prediction of doom and gloom about endless drought then mother nature demonstrates their stupidity by dumping drenching rains – sorry to se devastating floods though.
Can’t help smirking though – just like when Flannery was shown to be clueless by 3 successive years of heavy rainfall in the permanent drought doomed/declared SE Australia.
Declaring a permanent drought does seem to bring rain.

Like the rest of littermates, Katherine Hayhoe is a piss poor excuse for a scientist but a masterful liar. Just as soon as the deluge exposed her as a fool in the rain, she reversed course claiming “climate change EXACERBATES many of our weather extremes, making many of them, on average, worse than they would have been naturally.”
While I can’t say for sure if climate change EXACERBATES weather extremes, there’s no doubt whatsoever that it EXACERBATES lying by witch doctors claiming to be climate scientists.
Reading the helpful graphic, I see Texas as, “Moderately Moist”, “Very Moist”, and “Extremely Moist”. Must be a “Moist” drought.
Climate change is the desertification of rational thought.
