    That wouldn’t be so bad if the Repubs put up a whimper of protest. Unfortunately they will champion the legislation that will do the deed. Best thing that ever happened to Hussein’s regime is election of a Repub congress and senate. They have greased the skids for his entire devious schemes, better than the previous Demoncrats ever did. Oh, and don’t dream that Kevin McCarthy will be an improvement on tearful Boehner. I know his reputation well, he is ‘my congressman’. He has a history of kissing up to whomever is in power and giving them whatever they ask for, starting with the Governator and his Green Kalifornia initiatives.

      Gallup: 60% of Americans Want a New Political Party. But, Why?

      A Gallup poll issued on September 25th is headlined “Majority in U.S. Maintain Need for Third Major Party,” and it opens: “A majority of Americans, 60%, say a third major political party is needed because the Republican and Democratic parties ‘do such a poor job’ of representing the American people.”

      78% of independents want there to be another “major” party; 47% of Democrats do; 45% of Republicans do.

      ….. so, the American people are at a political turning-point, of seriously questioning whether they live in an actual democracy — a country in which the possibility, that the government represents the public instead of some controlling individual or group of individuals, exists. 60% now think that that possibility doesn’t exist — neither party represents it. They think that America, at the very highest governmental level, is no longer an authentic democracy. There actually exists strong evidence that it’s not an authentic democracy.

      Another Gallup poll, issued on September 19th, was headlined “75% in U.S. See Widespread Government Corruption.” 75% answered “Yes” to: “Is corruption widespread throughout the government in this country?” ….Gallup reported, in their poll of perceived corruption, that, “the percentage of U.S. adults who see corruption as pervasive has never been less than a majority in the past decade.” Gallup provided no further details, except that, when Obama came into office, the percentage was 66%. So, a decade back, in 2005, the percentage was somewhere above 50%, and then it was 66% when Obama entered the White House in 2009, and it’s 75% today.

      Regardless of what the explanation is, the American people are feeling increasingly alienated from the government that supposedly represents them. If the U.S. Government is a democracy at all, it’s one whose legitimacy is increasingly being doubted by its public.

      The U.S. Government thus now faces a crisis of legitimacy.

      Was this destruction in our confidence in the US government carefully orchestrated in preparation for takeover? For the final destruction of our Constitutional Republic (whats left of it.)

      Look at what Kent Clizbe has said:

      …..Carson seems to genuinely believe that the actions of the current administration could lead to civil unrest that could, in turn, lead to the cancellation of the 2016 Presidential Election altogether. Furthermore, Dr. Carson believes that should this happen, President Obama will have reason to implement Martial Law, thus suspending most, if not all of Americans’ constitutional rights….

      If they do not get a Jeb Bush vs Hiltlery Dog and Pony show in 2016, I think this may very well be the fall back position.

      Duke Power is very cozy with Obama and even lent him money for his last campaign and it is Duke Power that is closing down coal plants AND destroying them at record rates on the Eastern seaboard where most US cities are.

          I like Rasmussen because they are up front with what questions they ask and the questions are not twisted to give numbers that can then be fed to the media.

          The Blair-Rockefeller poll is a real classic when it comes to designing a poll to give you numbers you can then feed the MSM to smear an opponent with. In this case it really worked. (At one point Rasmussen showed voters split 1/3, 1/3 and 1/3 with the Tea party right up there with the DemiRats and ReBooblicans. Not surprising given Americans are still saying they really want a viable third party.)

          You say that as if they’re two different things. They’re up front with the questions BECAUSE the questions aren’t twisted to give the numbers they want. Or perhaps the other way around. But you’ll never see one without the other. If schools were really about learning, they’d make sure everyone knew that an answer is meaningless without the question that was asked.
          I think “42” sums it up pretty well.

    Obama can go on about gun control all he wants. Nobody but his rich liberal sycophants and academics and some of their students take him seriously on that issue. Not even most blacks align with him on it. The rest of us live in the real world except the politicians and even most of them have figured out that nationally gun control is a losing issue.

    Even as he rails the DC government has lost a big battle concerning their restrictions on gun ownership.

      Colorado there is plenty of that to wallow in elsewhere even in the realm of defending the 2nd amendment. But this DC case was a win anyway one cuts it as have been the majority of cases involving the extraconstitutional gun laws in that place since 2008 when the SCOTUS found the Washington DC ban on handguns unconstitutional.

      Legal battles on such issues when it involves an entrenched City Hall with a bottomless pocketbook for legal battles are usually gradual with multiple cases that nibble away at the central issue. It all moves at the rate of molasses over sandpaper. But the point is, it has been moving in the right direction in DC since 2008.

    Bad timing – just as Obama was citing Australia’s gun laws as a model a fifteen year old Muslim teenager murders a Chinese accountant in the street outside the police station where he worked.

    The 15 year old is blasted to death in response and the mosque he frequented is raided.

    Earlier this year another fanatic on bail for serious violent charges obtains guns and holds hostages in a Cafe in Sydney resulting in 3 deaths.

    Let’s be honest – gun laws only inhibit the honest citizens of any country – criminals have a habit of disobeying the law or don’t people like Obama recognize this ?

      Not quite true. Soviet scientists made great progress in this realm in the years 1917-1987. After some interim setbacks*) within the “New Soviet Man” project they came in the end very close to the creation of a new social class, the law-abiding criminal. Only the untimely collapse of the Soviet Union and the shutdown of her correctional and re-educational facilities thwarted the successful conclusion of the development. There is no reason why the Obama administration could not pick up the dropped Soviet baton and finish the race.

        The 15 year old islamic terrorist was given a gun and set loose.
        The kids parents left Australia for Turkey the week before and his sister left the day before.
        They need to be extradited and returned to Australia on charges of accessory to murder before the fact, and on suspected terrorism charges.

        KENNESAW, Ga – Several Kennesaw officials attribute a drop in crime in the city over the past two decades to a law that requires residents to have a gun in the house.

        In 1982, the Kennesaw City Council unanimously passed a law requiring heads of households to own at least one firearm with ammunition.

        The ordinance states the gun law is needed to “protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants.”

        Then-councilman J.O. Stephenson said after the ordinance was passed, everyone “went crazy.”

        “People all over the country said there would be shootings in the street and violence in homes,” he said. “Of course, that wasn’t the case.”

        In fact, according to Stephenson, it caused the crime rate in the city to plunge.

        Kennesaw Historical Society president Robert Jones said following the law’s passage, the crime rate dropped 89 percent in the city, compared to the modest 10 percent drop statewide.

        “It did drop after it was passed,” he said. “After it initially dropped, it has stayed at the same low level for the past 16 years.”

    A fundamental fact that most Americans don’t seem to understand. The Bill of Rights does not grant rights, it was written to preserve preexisting rights. The 9th amendment makes that very clear.
    “The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.”

    IOW we have rights far beyond what is expressed in the Bill of Rights or Constitution and the Federal Government has no Constitutional power to deny us those rights.

    In the realm of the use of a firearm or any other weapon at hand this means that we have a fundamental right to protect the lives of ourselves, our family and our fellow man. This is what the founders called a “fundamental law of nature” and explicitly intended could not be “abrogated by any regulation of municipal law.”

      Rah,

      I once went out with a lawyer. I forget how we got there, but I ended up making the same point you just made. She literally laughed at the idea. At least according to her, in the current legal system, the ninth amendment has no meaning what so ever. It’s a non-binding and impossibly vague statement of intent, with no purpose beyond soliciting votes for the constitution, and only an idiot could read it as anything else.

      I can’t say I’ve ever asked a judge about it, but her description certainly seems to reflect the courts’ interpretations of the ninth amendment.

      And no, I never saw her again.

        Further, I happen to know some history and so know the Federalists were so sure that those many individual rights existed that they didn’t even think that a Bill of Rights was necessary to enumerate ANY OF THEM.

        The ONLY ones that needed sold on the Bill of Rights were the Federalists.

          Sadly, the bill of rights has led to exactly what the antifederalists said it would. With certain rare, politically motivated exceptions, (abortion, homosexual marriage, etc) the enumerated rights are now seen as an exhaustive list.           In truth, there’s been no limit on federal power since Marbury v. Madison. The government granted itself the power to determine the nature and scope of it’s own authority. The war should have started that day.

    America has roughly one privately owned firearm for every man, woman, and child. That’s about 300,000,000 firearms, spread among about 50,000,000 households. About a third of those are handguns, which take up less space than a book, and can be hidden almost anywhere. As an unknowable, but surely significant, number of those firearms have no paper trail leading to the current owner, it’s impossible to say exactly how many there are, or where they are.

    Estimates vary more widely on illegal aliens, but their numbers are generally given as between 11,000,000 and 20,000,000. Very few of those people could be hidden in the space needed to hide even the biggest firearm, and not a single one could be hidden within a book sized object. Again, it’s impossible to know the exact number or locations of all illegals.

    In both cases, all previous attempts to eradicate either group, without exception, have resulted in massive efforts to hide the objects, or otherwise obstruct said eradication.

    The apparent belief of many liberals is that all privately owned firearms can be found, and eliminated, but finding and eliminating illegals is so hopelessly impossible that we’d be fools to try. Looking at the same data, I come to different conclusions.

    In my opinion, the only reason we haven’t yet seen large scale confiscation is that it’s one of the few government actions guaranteed to cause a revolution. Something in the American psyche needs to change before confiscation would be allowed. I don’t know what that change would be, or how to bring it about. Thankfully, it doesn’t appear that the government knows, either.
