Using the same linear extrapolation techniques¹ as our top government climate scientists, I have determined that the Arctic will be ice-free on August 27, 2018, at 3:14 PM, or perhaps as late as 4PM.
This is somewhat of a reprieve. Based on melt rates five days ago, the Arctic was going to be ice-free on August 10. Melt rates have dropped almost 40% in the last five days.
- Here is the inspiration for my work. Scientists and Nobel Laureates who predicted the Arctic would be ice free in 2014.
Gore: Polar ice cap may disappear by summer 2014
Climate scientists are very clever people, and use linear extrapolations for all kinds of outstanding work – plotting straight lines across one leg of a cycle.
It is important to remember that as a non-peer reviewed, non-climate scientist, you aren’t qualified to question the top quality work of these geniuses.
