What follows is the data from the Tanzanian Island of Zanzibar in the Indian Ocean.
NASA’s website tells us that the GHCN V3 Unadjusted data gives the mean annual temperature up to 2007, despite the V3 dataset being updated up to July 2019, and the trend is a cooling.
According to NASA, in the GHCN V4 dataset, the station has the mean annual temperature data after 2007, not only the data of up to 2007 from 1880.
What is worse, the GHCN V4 Unadjusted data show Zanzibar has seen a cooling trend since 1880, but the GHCN V4 adj – homogenized show that the island has had a warming trend.

I wonder just how much NASA likes data alteration?

The raw data implies that maybe the Little Ice Age never really ended, but merely had a respite of 50 to 70 years.
Great job, Kirye!
Your findings about actual climate trends worldwide are most revealing.
Outstanding!
I am pretty sure NASA will now force some apprentice to write 70 pages of scientific gobbledygook to explain the extreme importance of the adjustments.
It’s almost like NASA has done an adjustment to the records. Pick the result you want and make it happen, but that isn’t how science works. Thank you Kirye.
Even tho’ I’m old enough to remember the “The Coming Ice Age” and “The Cooling” and their proposals that we dump tons of extra CO2 into the atmosphere to stave off the imminent return of the glaciers, even I, on occasion, begin to succumb to the incessant drumbeat of “hottest summer/fall/winter/spring ever”, “worst wildfire season ever” (which, btw, it isn’t – in Oregon, this season didn’t make it into the top 3rd in the last 120 years), “globe continues to heat up” news and one starts to wonder if one really is a “science denier”. And then, at noon, today (10/9/20), my wife was watching a show on “Outrageous Ice Machines” while she had lunch and there was a ice tug cabin up in northern Alaska complaining that, this year (2019) “the ice is thicker, more solid, and more widespread than anyone can remember”. You remember last year in the Arctic, right? Yeah, “warmest ever”, “huge loss in sea ice”, “starving polar bears”, “the ice is well on the way to disappearing”, etc. And yet here’s a guy who lives with it and his subjective impression is totally different from what the folks in DC and Brussels and at the UN are telling us. So, Tony, my apologies for ever doubting you. Think maybe it’s time to worry about the lemurs in Madagascar freezing?
“Unadjusted data” is actually not data at all. “Unadjusted data” is actually an artifact of analysis. Data is data when it is collected, and once adjusted it is no longer data, it is opinion.
It’s almost like NASA has done an adjustment to the records. Pick the result you want and make it happen, but that isn’t how science works
The numbers nearly make it seem like NASA tampered with the data. However, you can’t just choose the outcome you want and make it happen; that’s not how science works. Kirye, your gratitude is much appreciated.
