The longest tornado of the 20th century occurred in 1917 – covering 293 miles of Illinois and Indiana. That was seventy miles longer than this weekend’s tornado.

At the time of 1925 tornado, it was reported the tornado divided off several offshoots which covered 700 miles in length.
