The South African doctor who discovered the “Omicron variant” was pressured to lie about the seriousness of the virus.
“WORLD: It is said that you were asked to portray Omicron as just as serious as the previous variants. Is that correct?
Angelique Coetzee: I was told not to publicly state that it was a mild illness. I have been asked to refrain from making such statements and to say that it is a serious illness. I declined.”
