“almost certain”

“Santa Cruz Sentinel 07 Dec 1989, Thu -Page 14

Hansen spurred controversy when he told a U.S. Senate committee during the hot, dry summer of 1988 that he was almost certain greenhouse warming already was under way. Other scientists said if that’s true, they can’t detect such warming since it is so small compared with temperature variations caused by changes in solar heat output and other natural factors.”

    From my area’s weather almanac
Today’s high and low are predicted near normal
    December 13:
Daily Data Observed Normal Record Highest
    Max Temperature M 58 83 in 1933
    Min Temperature M 39 63 in 1929
    Avg Temperature M 48.4 70.0 in 1995
Was the catastrophic warming a century or even 30 years ago?
In the past I recall the weather reporters used to cite the year of record high and low for the day but not so much these days.

Hanson’s sweating pretty hard these days but not because it’s hot.

Almost certain that greenhouse warming had already started? Don’t most people agree that the reason we have fairly stable temperatures, unlike the moon and Mars, is because we have an atmosphere, and specifically one with green house gases? I think also oceans have a lot to do with it, but in any case, it’s fairly accepted that greenhouse gases dampen our surface temperature swings.
