We are having a picture perfect day in Maryland. This video was my drive back from the gym on Saturday afternoon, after the cold front passed.

You might note that I live directly in line with the BWI runway.
You might also note that most people are staring at their phone, rather than observing God’s glory around them.
Very nice scenery. I did 22 miles yesterday but none were as nice as that. Riding back from the pub was interesting, though. 🙂
It was freaky yesterday. Manchester United won.
The start of a new trend, I believe.
Nice trail.
Enjoying the good things in life.
[Sorry: did not see your request on the long thread in time. I agree.]

I noticed the people staring at their phones. It’s disappointing but not surprising.
In my opinion, smartphones and tablets are bigger “idiot boxes” than TV ever was.
At least you used to not be able to carry a TV with you wherever you went.
We have a whole generation, and a lot of older people who grew up without the Internet and should know better, who think that their “friends” are people who they exchange “clever” remarks over Facebook, etc.
Well time to stop waving my can and yelling at the neighbor kids, get out of my lawn chair and go inside to check my email.
waving my cane, that is. Not sure I want to be outside on my lawn waving my can.
No there is where I have you beat Dave. I am a good 1/2 mile from the nearest neighbor and a good quarter mile from the road so who needs clothes? (Boots on the other hand are a must)
Hey Gail! Well, you have me beat, because I live in an urban area — but on vacations the wife and I go to our place in the woods. There are 13 miles of dirt road to get there, and the nearest neighbors (and nearest power lines) are three miles. At night, the only human lights other than our own are a few farmhouses on a ridge about six or eight miles away.
Thanks Steve, for all that you do. I am an operational meteorologist for a US Government agency and, based on my own research, feel that what you offer is spot-on. A quick look at record temperatures across most of the USA confirms this: almost universally, record lows have occurred more recently than record highs at first-order stations–an inconvenient truth for alarmists. Certainly not a defensible sign of an impending “hockey-stick” of runaway global warming. I find it unfortunate that many of my colleagues’ similar views are now drown out in politics. And the so-called extreme weather events which NOAA has to perpetuate to justify its “Weather Ready Nation” concept are simply not happening. If anything, the lack of such events in the last decade is more of an aberration. But yet another scare tactic to justify funding and political pull. Climate Change is far from settled science (t least, the effect of the human input on this), it is just that anyone who publically doesn’t tow the company line is disposed of and/or their career intentionally subjected to stagnation/irrelevance.
Nice ride (-:
I have the Ozaukee Interurban Bike Trail right off my Brown Deer back yard.
Rode to Cedarburg & back a few days ago – 17 miles round trip.

I never thought of Maryland as paradise, though an old beer ad once branded it “the land of pleasant living.” I guess it is pleasant during the two weeks between summer and winter. The rest of the time, often not that pleasant, though not a bad place when compared to others.
Most of Maryland may well suck, but where I live it is almost perfect.
When I lived in Delaware I enjoyed the fall months the best. Lewes, Delaware oldest city in oldest state.
Nice route. Nice scenery. Lucky you.
By the way, ‘n’ that, what does BWI stand for?
BWI is Baltimore Washington International.
I noticed most people were wearing jackets or sweat shirts and jeans — even a hood. Only several in bermuda shorts. Must have been in the upper 50s to low 60s.
It was probably around 60 degrees Saturday afternoon. Overheated summer atmosphere.
Is that your stomach rubbling after the gym with no food ?
Bicycle riding over leaves and twigs
GoPro across these lovely trails??
I don’t know how you could even go outside… according to NASA temperatures are the hottest ever.. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/15/warmest-august_n_5823642.html
