Climate experts say there is no ice and the rescue mission was not required. This means the U.S. coast guard are climate deniers. The EPA will be auditing them soon.

It would be very funny if we have such a mild summer in the USA that the pile is still there next winter.
I live in Eastern Canada. Having a mild summer where there’s still snow is not funny at all. 🙂 I get the joke, but I’ve been saying this all along… One of the things “climate scientists” have done is make warm summers be out to be bad thing. It is not a bad thing. Warmer climate has always benefited humans and we should all look forward to warm summers. Indeed, if CO2 warms the planet, it should be our duty to pump out as much of it as possible. I tell this to warmists and they freak out. It’s funny.

I really am sick of driving to MA, NH, NY. Perhaps this next week I’ll get a break since it will be about as miserable here in Indiana as it is in the North East. Was told there was another team run down to Laredo coming up this week. Perhaps I will be lucky enough to get that. A trip to Danny’s for some Choriqueso is sounding pretty good right now.

Later this week we are getting snow, sleet and ice pellets so they may send you to North Carolina.
We’re very friendly here in western New Hampshire. 🙂 But you have to like the cold (-2F right now with snow on the way). And, of course, the skiers are LOVING this weather. The powder has been incredible and very unlike most Eastern skiing this time of year.
That is why I lived in NH and commuted to Andover MA when I first moved to the area.
And yes the skiing in powder is incredible.
Ah yes I know they’re loving it. Skied the last two weeks of January for five winters at either Smugglers Notch or Stow back in the 80s. Would stay at Camp Ethan Allen near Jericho, VT. And then went into the field and spent the first two weeks in Feb. skiing around being chased in the White or Green Mtns.
Almost got thrown in jail in Jericho. The local cops loved to try and nail us for DWI when driving from the bars to Camp. Finally one night a fine looking female police officer came into the bar. My buddy and the Sr. Commo man on my team, Sly, sauntered up to her and said: “You know, I would like to see you in nothing but your leather and metal accoutrements!” And it went down hill from there.

My first year in grad school was 1970 at MIT and, just to show things really do go in cycles, I slogged through boatloads of snow all Fall and Winter. Very rude shock for a CA-native, and I wasted no time locating a geology grad program in the West.
My “gorgeous ex-fiance” [to borrow a memorable Willis phrase] and I got snowed in at Cape Cod on Easter Sunday – then went back to CA and got married. Still working after 44 years

Still no Ice Age here in Colorado. People talking about lack of snow in the mountains leading to water problems this summer. I’ve lived in Colorado for almost sixty years and this conversation has been repeated almost every year. This year’s drought will no doubt be due to CAGW; unlike the previous sixty years which were caused by mother nature being a bitch.
I moved to Boulder in spring 1995, after one of the warmest, driest winters on record. By June there was record snow in the mountains and floods on Boulder and Left Hand Creeks.

If these media sources like Science & Mechanics (the precursor to PopSci and PopMech) were reporting that in the 1970’s a new ice age was imminent, and they were using presumably credible “experts” to back up the claim – and if it WASN’T true – why didn’t “the consensus” of climatologists/NOAA/NASA get out there and correct the record for the people that matter most – Joe Average American? Otherwise this comes across as mere tabloid drivel. What studies were referenced to suggest an ice age was coming? Why was the DoD on board? I’ve never understood why the “true” scientists were so complicit in allowing a ruse to be propagated for so long if they didn’t actually believe it themselves. Anyone?

Aren’t there people who are now claiming that there never had been a global cooling scare previously? Maybe we should come up with some catchy name for them. Perhaps ‘prior global cooling scare deniers’, or possibly ‘winston smiths’. Isn’t it obvious that none of the predictions have actually come true? I guess not. The ‘BIG LIE’ is entirely too effective.
It’s like saying there was never a Y2K scare to those of us old enough to have lived it.
There was a Y2K scare, but problems were avoided by good old fashioned preventative methods.
Like checking the BIOS of the computers that might be affected and any programs that might need adjusting.
In the end a Non event due to people like Steven and IT departments world wide.
Y2K wasn’t quite a non-event. I have read (though I don’t know the details) that there was one fatality with a documented connection to Y2K, in a railroad accident in Russia.

I just had an idea on how to gently take advantage of true AGW believers. Using things like ‘sealed air’ or polyair (for shipping there are various sized gas filled plastic ‘pillows’) offer CO2 filled sealed gas to be used as an insulation material. You could charge handsomely for these, but you would also want to include a disclaimer. (Nobody reads those anyway) You could explain that while these likely will insulate just as well as regular air-filled or nitrogen filled items, that the CO2 is NOT actually going to make a big difference AT ALL in the insulating capacity of these devices. These also have an advantage of being somewhat fire-retardant as well. (Although nitrogen would do that too)
Thermal conductivity of CO2 is 0.0093 vs 0.0145 for air. Better, but not really huge improvement either.
But I do think there are already some companies selling gas filled insulated windows and I think in some cases you can get CO2 filled windows as well.

Argon is the gas of choice for the windows IMO I have them. Low E glass with Argon. Put eight in on the North, south, and west (front) sides of the house. Three simple double hung, a bay window with casements on the side, two double double hung, and two awning types. I have three more in the shed ready to install this summer to finish up the east side. What the Argon really does more than anything is help prevent frost build up on the windows. Good quality windows and doors properly installed and caulked have made a huge difference in the comfort in my home, the original part of which was built in 1944. Though I live in a pretty secure rural area where there is little crime I have security doors for my “screen” doors and they have also helped preventing drafts besides providing a little piece of mind concerning the security of my lady when I’m on the road.

Your in Australia home of the MOBS, I am sure you can find a nice ram lamb or two. Graze them all summer and put them in the freezer come autumn.
I like mowing my yard. Gives me a good 40 minutes of exercise doing the trimming followed by an hour and a half of sitting on the lawn tractor drinking a cold one or two. Usually followed by putting something on the grill and eating it while sitting out on the deck enjoying the nice looking lawn and surrounding fields. Mowing is a pleasure but shoveling and using the snow blower is hard work.
I was stationed down at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX for about two years and had a lawn of St. Augustine grass to take care of year round and between me and my wife’s green thumb would win “Lawn of the Month” on post quite frequently. Previously I had gone for 10 years either as a trainee or in assignments where I was gone for six to eight months of the year so doing such domestic tasks was a pleasure.
Really got under the skin of some of my peers because on the enlisted evaluation reports I would get an exceptional rating for taking care of government property. Back then getting the top rating in any of the categories was pretty tough and directly effected the speed in advancement in grade/rank. Thus when I ended my time in service I was an E-7/SFC promotable while some of my peers with similar time in service and grade had not yet made the promotable list.

My husband just walked in the door this morning with a newborn ram lamb who was rejected by its Mom. Biggest darn lamb I have ever seen. It is as big as my 2 month old bottle baby goat and shes bigger than her sibs.
Tell me where you want me to mail that lamb – COD of course. Blasted thing will not shut up!

Please correct me if I am wrong about this, but doesn’t the formation of sea ice indicate that the water in question cannot possibly be that warm?

Yep, you know it is cold when the sea starts to freeze between New York & Boston.
As of midnight Saturday into Sunday, this month became the snowiest on record in Boston, hitting 45.5 total inches, according to the National Weather Service. The last record month was 43.3 inches in January 2005.
As the snow ends, temperatures and wind chills are expected to drop dangerously low.
Let’s not forget that, for some parts of the world, this winter (2014/2015) was pretty serious. I’m not talking about a new Ice Age, but about snow in areas where it didn’t use to snow (such as Sicily or Greece) or even about the blizzard in New England. As for this phenomenon, it is in close correlation with the ocean (http://www.2007seatraining.de/2015/49.html), pretty much like the entire climate.
