After three years of nothing but bad news for Arctic alarmists, they got all excited about a couple of days of wind compacting Arctic sea ice, and started a “lowest winter ice extent ever” circle jerk.
The Arctic surge began immediately after that, and the ice is now well above 2006 and almost above 2005 – the two years with the highest summer minimums of the last decade.
Arctic sea ice has been closely tracking 2005 and 2006 for the past couple of years. The Death Spiral is dead.
The second, one-page sequel to Climategate shows how science was sacrificed to save the world from possible nuclear annihilation:

I just enjoy that “lowest/highest ____ EVER” (fill in the blank) doesn’t even cover the years of my youth anymore. I guess that makes me older than forever.
Yeah, it’s the lowest EVER! (If by ever you mean since my son started pre-school.)
Yikes!
Your chart shows a fall in extent of about 3 million square kilometres in 24 hours! http://ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/plots/icecover/icecover_current_new.png
Oh, hold on; you’re chart just shows non-coastal regions.
Phew!
If there’s one thing liberals are good at, it’s circlejerking. I know. I was one of them way back when. And the irony is that if the ice compacts, it should make it more probable for multi-year ice to survive the summer. They’re effectively celebrating the opposite of what they want to happen.
“The Death Spiral is dead”.
It may be dead in reality, but it lives on forever in warmist hearts.
