Tacking climate change and investing in clean energy would be a priority for a Hillary Clinton presidency, according to the man running her bid to become the next US president. John Podesta, who recently quit his job as advisor to President Barack Obama, tweeted this would be “top of the agenda” for Clinton as she prepares her run for the White House. A Washington veteran who was also advisor to Bill Clinton, Podesta is widely credited as the brains behind Obama’s climate change plan, published in 2013.
In a speech last December Hillary Clinton said Obama’s carbon cutting policies “must be protected at all costs”, labelling them “unprecedented” and calling for politicians to “act decisively… to head off catastrophic consequences.”

CO2 levels over 350 ppm were suppose to give us category 7 and 8 hurricanes, sea levels 20′ higher than they are today, no ice in the Arctic and Antarctic, droughts never before recorded in history, and biblical floods; it was meant to be a painful and horrible death.

Despite what the climate cultists call the issue today, the solution is always the same in that we need to reduce CO2 emissions. But, as I understand, humans only generate about 4% of the total generated annually. So even if we impossibly removed all of our emissions, how could that have any significant effect? I was reading a thread on WUWT yesterday where several commenters were claiming that the increase in atmospheric CO2 volumes since the end of the LIA are mostly due to the human contributions. I was stunned that even Roy Spencer agreed with that claim. Does anyone have any definitive knowledge of the truth in this regard? If we contribute such a minor amount of the total, how can our paltry share be the major factor in the rise? I find this very hard to believe. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Morgan. It looks like you’re claiming 100% of the rise from 280 ppm to 300 ppm is due to humans. If you’re going to make a categorical claim like that, please prove it. I don’t know what humans are responsible for. I’ve heard it is 4-7%, and never had one warmist challenge it with any solid, dissenting data – let alone “kill” it. CO2 leaches out of the ground, out of the oceans, and out of volcanoes. Those are “real facts”. Humans aren’t responsible for all that. You say the math is simple, then please show the math that humans are responsible for all of it.

I wasn’t making an argument. I stated what I have heard for years as the supposed ratio of human to total and then asked if anyone had the definitive facts. To say that we are responsible for entire increase since the LIA seems to imply that humans produce more than the rest of nature combined. I stated that I found that hard to believe. Your example of the money into the bank indicates that natural CO2 was in perfect balance prior to human contributions. Geologic history which shows dramatic swings in volumes prior to human production makes that seem very unlikely.

Since the depths of the Little Ice Age, ocean temperatures have been rising, and this is causing a certain amount of outgassing of CO2 into the atmosphere. That’s why the annual increment measured in Hawaii has remained fairly constant for sixty years despite a tripling of anthropogenic fossil fuel burning. Dr. Salby in his talk in London last month analyzed the issue and I understand that came up with a figure of no more than about 28% of the increase coming from hydrocarbon combustion. Also, remember in the ice proxy records, changes in atmospheric CO2 almost always lag behind temperature changes by several centuries.

Thanks Disillusioned. If it is true that warming precedes CO2 then it seems that the increase in temps causing the end of the LIA would also promote outgassing from the oceans thereby contributing to the increase in ppm. But I posed the question because I would like to understand the issue. Not sure why Morgan was so testy, especially since I don’t really care what the warmists might say.

800 years takes us back to early 13th late 12th century, in fact if you consider CO2 started rising significantly early/mid 20th century then early/mid 12th century is when you should be looking for a warm period.

So in about 100 years or so we should be able to detect the start of the LIA.
All you have to do is find out how much coal and oil humans have burned. We have all the records going back to the industrial revolution. Figure out how much CO2 you get from that much coal and oil, figure out how much that raises the atmospheric CO2 level and figure out the ocean and other sinks. The math is simple and has been done years ago. Please don’t argue that humans haven’t raised the CO2 level by burning fossil fuels If you want to argue against AGW you have to use valid arguments. Is that because someone showed you the formulae for CO2-carbonate equilibria in water? So, they have nailed down ocean temperature by depth for all oceans, ocean currents, volcanic sources, undersea sources, CO2 and methane from organic decomposition, natural methane sources, CO2 uptake by plants and all the other variables? The estimates are slightly better than throwing spitballs against the wall and seeing what sticks. Why else would they be clamoring for more research funding?
These guys don’t have the intellectual integrity to include estimates of errors with things like atmospheric anthropogenic CO2, even the silly qualitative low-medium-high certainties, because if they did, you just might not have such high confidence in the results.

ISIS is operating a camp just a few miles from El Paso, Texas, according to Judicial Watch sources that include a Mexican Army field grade officer and a Mexican Federal Police Inspector.
The exact location where the terrorist group has established its base is around eight miles from the U.S. border in an area known as “Anapra” situated just west of Ciudad Juárez in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. As I recall they trained in the Poconos and somewhere in New Jersey. They were amateurs, and were caught before they could do any real harm.
